Obama: Iraq Strategy Strengthened Iran ("It's all Bush' fault")

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday blamed Bush administration failings in Iraq for strengthening the strategic position of Iran, which he says must be stopped from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The Illinois senator said that means "direct engagement" with Iran similar to the meetings with the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War.

One of the most profound consequences of the administration's failed strategy in Iraq has been to strengthen Iran's strategic position; reduce U.S. credibility and influence in the region; and place Israel and other nations friendly to the United States in greater peril," Obama told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the pro-Israel lobbying group.

"While we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons," Obama said.

Obama said Iranian nuclear weapons would destabilize the region and could set off a new arms race.

Fellow senator and Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton has warned Bush not to take any military action against Iran without congressional approval.

Iran has refused to freeze its enrichment-related activities and the U.N. Security Council has imposed sanctions targeting its nuclear and missile programs and persons involved in them.

Iran has refused to halt its nuclear program

that's why as his first act as President, Barack Hussein Obama will restore to power Saddam Hussein.

This will restore the balance of power and bring international justice back to the people of Iraq who so richly deserved chemical weapons being used as human insecticides and rape rooms for their lovely brides.

Ohh damn! Saddam is dead.

Never mind.

Wow. What an incredible opening. Russia was at least somewhat in the same league as the U.S. in that they had thousands of nukes. Iran is a pipsqueak trying to build one nuke. Only a truly stupid person could make such as ridiculous equivalence.

I htink in a general election Obama doesn't stand a chance against a decent Republican candidate -- as long as that Republican can't be painted as a "far right winger" by the media.

What a joke, he figured out that Iran is a threat and his big solution is diplomatic "engagement".

Hmm but he says the reason Iran is a threat is the strategic reality on the ground. That ought to be a clue as to the solution, if he had any sense.

Yes I think many of us are much better educated on foreign policy history than this bozo. Can you imagine a clown like that as Commander in Chief??

However I pay attention to things, and as a group, some blacks are riveted by his image on the TV. Race seems to draw them like the moth to the flame.

And that flame of hate is smoldering against 'whitey'

There you gp....Obama is
nothing but a typical Democrat.

You know..the Typical Democrat
as typified in Die Hard in the
character 'Richard Thornburg',
the co-worker of McClains' wife,
who decided the best way to
get everybody out of being
hostages, was to sit down, and
"talk" "cut a deal" with the
terrorists, by betraying McClain,
and selling him out to the
terrorists..and just like McClain,
the Dims will get the same reward
from their new "buddies".

Wich is only what they deserve.

They just have no clue who
they are dealing with.

They are too blinded by their
own na5rcissism, and actually
believe their own MSM press.

Continually amazed that the Dems can spew this type drivel day in and day out and are never once challenged on their conclusions. Never questioned about their reasoning. Never asked to provide empirical evidence that would support a causal relationship they claim exists.

I don't expect the MSM to speak up, but every now and then I'd love for someone in the Republican Party to call bullshit.
