Perhaps I sound ignorant on some of the details, but I know glorified drinking when I see it.

Good for you, why should you know what you're talking about when it's just as easy to have an opinion without thinking.

You can't argue with someone who's secure in his ignorance. So I won't.

that show was a glorification of drinking.

I haven't watched many episodes. The ones I have watched that had drinking had shown negative consequences.

There was one where the father of one of the boys is convinced that he's an alcoholic. He "has no control" because alcoholism is "a disease!"

To be cured he gets his son to drive him to a statue that causes "miracles." When the pope states it wasn't miraculous he decides he's not cured even though he has had no desire to drink for over a week. The son convinces him to choose whether or not to drink and to choose to drink in "moderation."

"don't confuse Jefferson Davis for Bobby Lee."
I stand corrected if Cartman did indeed play Lee. (or sit corrected at my computer). Lets just say that one of the funnier scenes was the rape and pillage of Topeka, KS. Historical accuracy was not paid any attention to, of course. You sound more like Parker or Stone havin' a little fun drumming up a buzz about the new season.

I have followed this thread and was wondering how someone who is intelligent could possibly have so misinterpreted that episode --now I get it, you are using sarcasm yourself --you actually like South Park!

Ipso facto, the show glorified drunkenness.

Or the show demonstrated how dangerous and destructive drunkenness can be.

My; what a silly game we are playing.

Remember the "National Assosiaction of Marlon Brando Lookalikes" in the same hotel as "that OTHER NAMBLA"???I did not think it was possible to laugh at ANYTHING that had that acronym in the title....Trey Parker and Matt Stone are great.

Al Gore: I am here to educate you about the single biggest threat to our planet. You see, there is something out there which threatens our very existence and may be the end to the human race as we know it. I'm talking, of course, about 'ManBearPig.'
Kyle: ManBearPig?
Al Gore: It is a creature which roams the Earth alone. It is half man, half bear, and half pig. Some people say that ManBearPig isn't real. Well, I'm here to tell you now, ManBearPig is very real, and he most certainly exists--I'm cereal. ManBearPig doesn't care what you've done. ManBearPig just wants to get you. I'm super cereal. But have no fear, because I am here to save you. And someday, when the world is rid of ManBearPig, everyone will say, "Thank you Al Gore--you're super awesome!" The end.
Mr. Mackey: Uh, Okay. Thank You, Mr. Gore.
Al Gore: Thank you class. Excelsior!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Randy: Boys, I don't want you hanging out with that ex-vice president anymore, okay?
Stan: Aw, he's alright, dad. He was just trying to warn us about Manbearpig
Randy: Manbearpig?
Kyle: He's half man and half bearpig.
Cartman: No dude. He's half man, half bear, and half pig.
Kyle: That doesn't make any sense.
Stan: He could be half bear and half manpig.
Randy: Boys, there's no such thing as Manbearpig. The vice president is just desperate for attention.
Stan: But I feel kind of bad for him dad. I don't think he has any friends.
I just got three questions.
What in the heck does your tagline mean? I suspect it is a Satanic chant used to destroy the moral fiber of our country, you lousy communist.
And where can I buy some carbon credits?
South Park is indeed a great show. Parker and Stone actually do a great service by continuing to produce the show. These days, teenagers and young people are downright force-fed liberalism/anti-conservatism/anarchism as being super cool and the way to be. Any polling of this demografic confirms this. They're practically demanded to be democrats. That's where South Park comes in. Amidst a hugely anti-war/anti-American/pro-liberal entertainment world, this show enters the fray as a total black sheep. I believe South Park has actually prevented many younger people from being seduced by the Democratic Party and liberalism altogether. For those who dislike the show because of its filthy language, they miss forest for the trees and are absolutely unappreciative.
And you are here arguing with people who enjoy the show. Is your time really so meaningless to you?
Please don't bother trying to quantify my remark with "not nearly as meaningless as wasting it watching the show!" I've not seen many episodes because, honestly, I really don't care for it. Therefore I don't usually watch it. If others wish to watch it that's up to them.
If you don't like it then go do something that you enjoy and that you find edifying.
Old English quote from the Venerable Bede while writing about the Battle of Maldon. The king was leading his men to battle, and what he said translates roughly: "I who swear that from this place I will not flee a foot's space, my will is to go further."
ebay
That's two questions, not three.
And please don't call me a communist.
I don't think Algore has any friends.
I still like the Global warming episode best. The reporter reporting that Millions had died in a town of a few thousand and they are resorting to cannibalism "though this reporter hasn't seen it".
