That may be the stupidest sentence anyone has ever posted on Free Republic. You're a moron. And I'm sure you're OK with me not apologizing for calling you a moron because it's the truth.
Calling Edwards a faggot was an evil thing to do. She put herself on Phelps' level.
Point proven.
I thought her remarks were just childish... she is no different than Michael Moore in my opinion - like him, she has found an audience that eats up whatever she spits out, makes millions - but rarely has anything intelligent to say.
So you're saying that in your America, the men weren't afraid to call a straight man a "faggot" for no really good reason. Oh, how our country has fallen. If only more guys would call other guys "faggot," we'd be a great nation again! I feel sorry for you if you really believe that.
Testosterone is a good thing for a man to have a lot of, but it isn't always used correctly. It's best used by people like soldiers, firefighters, and police officers. It's abused by people like whoremongers, gangbangers, and the jerkoffs on shows like Jackass. Ann's testosterone caused her to make a jackass out of herself.
One thing you're right about: it did hit a "personal c[h]ord" with me, but not for the reason you are inferring. I am a straight male conservative, and I'm sick and tired of hearing scattershot loudmouths like Michael Savage and Ann Coulter imply that they are speaking for me when they do outlandish things like use slurs and wish people death because they disagree with them.
Savage told a caller on his stillborn MSNBC show to "get AIDS and die," and Coulter has cheerily written about fragging John Murtha and poisoning Justice Stevens (I notice Sean Hannity conveniently forgot that Ann liked the idea of fragging Murtha as he criticized Bill Maher today for saying lives would be saved if Cheney had been killed by the suicide bomber). Having no problem with those cases of rancid speech doesn't put you in the position of being intellectually honest when you cry foul -- as I did -- when Cindy Sheehan expounded on fantasies of going back in time to kill President Bush as a baby or when John Edwards hired two blogresses with a long and easy to find history of obscene rants not only against Christians in general and conservative Christians in particular, but in Jesus Christ himself and his mother.
I am angry at Ann Coulter because her reckless speech affects mine. When I have taken a position against same-sex marriage, the presumption is frequently made that I think homosexuals should be killed. This is a specious argument, but when right-wing heroes like Ann are throwing "faggot" out there and Savage is shouting that they should die from AIDS, it poisons the waters for the uninitiated. My contempt is for hateful speech period, regardless of which side of the aisle it's coming from. Can you say that?
What hypocrites like you do is say "It's bad!" when they do it, and when someone on "our side" does it, you say, "It's still not as bad!" and refuse to acknowledge wrongdoing. Admitting you're wrong when you know you're wrong is weakness to hypocrites, and it often results in them wearing their hypocrisy as a badge of machismo.
Especially galling to me is that Coulter got Edwards off the hook for standing by Marcotte and McEwan after he acknowledged their disgusting statements in past years. Ann could have mentioned that at CPAC, but instead, she actually handed the high ground over to Edwards without a fight. How stupid can you get?
Do you really believe he's a homosexual just because Ann said so?
He's not "my boy" any more than he is yours, and if you had followed my links, you would know that.
You're the one that needs to wake up.
Let me tell you about the last six years, since you weren't paying attention: Ann Coulter has NEVER won a thing over the "creeps," so she would know nothing about it.
Without calling people "faggot," the GOP has twice since 2000 taken the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. The GOP wasn't defeated by the socialist left without the help of faux conservatives who did things like build bridges to nowhere, impose restrictions on political speech, and capitulated to the government of Mexico.
If you think that the problem is that our side doesn't do enough name-calling, I am surprised you have the brains necessary to type.
