All electronic voting systems will always be suspect because the average person cannot verify that his vote is really counted. The paper vote may not be counted, but the system can be understand by the average person.

Instead of the old chad system, Champaign County in Illinois now uses a system in which the voter fills in boxes on the ballot as in grade school tests. The ballot is fed into a scanner which counts the vote. The ballot is then dumped into the sealed container underneath for possible manual recount or whatever later.

You make excellent points. Thank you.

While the scanners can be manipulated, the paper can be secured and audits done.

Hey! That's our OLD system. Either your county is way behind the curve, or my county is on the "cutting edge"! Maybe my county sold your county it's old machines!
