If the DNC and the New Democrat Third Way "progressives" and the likes of moron.org, dailycuss and dummyunderground are abuzz with this then it's replaced their day-to-day salvos of scurrility against the Administration and the right -- temporarily.

Note the differences. They react with hostility and challenges. The right reacts to vituperation by groveling, desperately trying to prove that they are really nice guys and "above" all that.

The difference? The right immediately abandons the substantive issues and becomes servile. The left stands up and fights winning a large portion of the substantive issues by default -- then on the the next "issue," more atacks on the right, more kowtowing from the right.

It's been that way ever since (and probably long before I am old enough to remember) "McCarthyism" became the "issue" not national security.
