The ACU knows where Thompson stands, and therefore I do too:
His lifetime Congressional ACU rating of 86 puts him just 6 points behind the likes of Duncan Hunter.
Most of his lost standing is due to missed votes, but when he votes bad, he votes VERY bad, as in his votes FOR McCain-Feingold and AGAINST even rudimentary tort reform.
Being a lawyer first last and always, he'd never do anything to upset that little applecart.
He's no conservative hero, but I could vote for him: something I could never do for Romney nor for Rudy.
Yes he did vote for CFR. But he also voted for these.
Voted NO on $1.15 billion per year to continue the COPS program. (May 1999)
Voted YES on limiting death penalty appeals. (Apr 1996)
Voted YES on limiting product liability punitive damage awards. (Mar 1996)
Voted YES on restricting class-action lawsuits. (Dec 1995)
Voted YES on repealing federal speed limits. (Jun 1995)
Six points behind Duncan Hunter means we really don't need this guy in the running. We need Duncan Hunter.
