I have asked myself the same thing about the monetary part of the license fees and feel that it probably should be either "free" or if not "free" then it needs to be "split" between the state and the "qualifying individual".(Although unless your looking for a FFL or something it doesn't cost that much $)

Why should I split the cost with the state or the feds? It's my gun. It's not half their property.
