Ahhh yes, that was almost exactly the route MAF's pro-troop bus tour took in September 2005.

It takes an awful lot of work to put these things together, to get people committed to participating, going to rally stops, getting word out to the press, working out the logistics of the vehicles, the gas, the route, the hotels.

Here's the directions for the San Diego Caravan - departing 4:30 PM from Pacific Trust Bank to head up to Palm Desert to join the main caravan for the big Palm Springs/Palm Desert rally:

Take I-15 North to CA-79… to CA-371 / CAHUILLA RD… Turn RIGHT onto CA-74 E / PINES TO PALMS HWY… CA-74 E / PINES TO PALMS HWY becomes MONTEREY AVE… Turn RIGHT onto FRED WARING DR / 44TH AVE… Make a U-TURN at PORTOLA AVE onto FRED WARING DR / 44TH AVE.
