We could have made this a drinking game and whenever liberal Rudy - who denounced Reagan in his 1993 campaign - invoked Reagan or connected himself to the Reagan Revolution, we could have all taken a drink. (I'm not a drinker though). And everyone would be drunk by now.

Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff. First, I think you need to start drinking, because you are way to tight and that's not good for your health.

Second, you need to go back to Political Science 101. I can recall the first day of class during my freshman year of college many years ago when a nut named "Jimmah" lived in the White House. The professor asked "What is the number one goal of every politician?" Hands shot up and we gave all the ususal answers that he expected to hear like saving the world from global cooling, ending poverty, filling potholes, protecting children, promoting peace and prosperity, blah, blah, blah. After letting us go on for a few minutes, he slammed his hand on the desk and yelled, "No! The number one goal of every politician is to get elected and then re-elected and don't you ever forget it."

My point is that Rudy Guilliani ran as a Republican in the most liberal city in America and he won -- twice. If he had campaigned as the second coming of Ronald Reagan, then he would have lost the election in a landslide and we would have had four more years of David Dinkins or Mark Green or Ruth Messenger, etc., who would have tripled the welfare rolls, embraced panhandlers, coddled murderers, and allowed NYC to continue her slide into the most disgustingly corrupt, dirty, and dangerous city in Western Civilization. Guilliani also would have lost the election by a landslide if he had campaigned on the Pro-Life platform or if he had actively adopted an anti-gay theme. Rudy did he what he had to do to get elected -- and yes, to some extent he pandered like every other politician who is serious about getting elected. The difference between Guilliani and other politicians, however, is that he doesn't deny what he said previously, flip-flop, or try to excuse positions that he may have taken to get elected in the past in order to get elected today. He is what he is, and many of us find that refreshing even if we don't agree with some of the positions that he has taken in the past. No candidate is perfect, however. The greatest president of the 20th Century -- perhaps one of the five greatest of all times -- gave amnesty to illegal aliens and approved a tax on social security. George H. W. Bush raised taxes despite his campaign promise to the contrary.

Third, you are turning into the "little boy who cried wolf" in that many of your comments about Guilliani are simply not true or are based upon nothing more than sound bites that you have distorted or taken out of context in support of your agenda. For example, to the best of my knowledge, Guilliani never "denounced" Ronald Reagan as you claim. Although he may not have embraced Reagan as the cornerstone of his campaign, he certain didn't denounce him by any definition of the word. He also didn't "abandon" his wife and children and didn't throw them out of the house as you claim. (If I recall correctly, he -- not she -- moved out of the mayorial mansion). Yes, he did divorce his wife, but so have millions and millions of other people including Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich (a two time loser), and Rush (a three time loser). In fact, when Reagan dumped his first wife, he also "abandoned" two children, ages seven and three.
