Like a tactical retreat is sometimes necessary in order to win wars so political principles will be compromised for a tactical advantage with a view of making the overall strategy successful.

I find it hilarious that y'all want conservatives to not only "tactically retreat," but wholesale surrender, before the battle has even started.

Sorry, but as a red blooded traditional American conservative I cannot possibly imagine myself supporting a gun grabbing, gay marriage supporting, illegal alien pandering, first amendment usurping abortionist for president. You might as well be asking me to support John McCain.

Bush hasn't done much. He did take our tax dollars and use it to fund fetal stem cell research. Not exactly a pro-life thing to do really.

It's not my fault you don't have a candidate this go-round.

I love it. It is 10 months until Iowa, yet we don't have a candidate.

We'll see about that.

Speaking of reloading, I am having a "wedding celebration" for my niece at a Hilton in Raleigh at the end of the month. 1 point per $1 I spend; I am a happy travelers, shoving my husband back out on the road!

Haha! We did that with our wedding reception as well, although it was at a Sheraton. Great way to amass some quick points.

The latter.

In fact, your description reads almost like a textbook definition of a wingut.

"Abortion is a states right issue...not a Federal issue."

I keep hearing this but when some type of abortion restriction is either voted on by referendum or by a body of State legislatures a FEDERAL Judge tries and usually succeeds in wiping the law away.

Now, where is the "States rights" in that reality?

Yeah, I know...so if Rudy wins the GOP nomination, what are your plans? If Duncan Hunter wins the nomination we can all celebrate... but what if Rudy wins...will you support the GOP?

"I don't think women are as hung up on gun rights for example,"

"And if I had to pinpoint major problems I have with Rudy - that would be number 1 on my list."

Has any Giuliani supporter addressed your concerns regarding his stance on 2nd Amendment rights, Gabz? Seems like I'm the only one left responding to you, since you pinpointed this major problem you have with Rudy.

let's not overstate that. Bush43 has appointed two excellent SCOTUS picks, Reagan could only manage 1 of 3.

Rudy upheld the law in NYC. That was his job.

NYC has never been lacking protests. They are a daily occurence.

McCAin Feingold is within the Constitutionally specified powers of Congress to regulate federal election. It took NO ONE'S right to free speech away. It didn't stop the Swifties from torpedoing Kerry. Or Moveon from trying to torpedo Bush.

I am confusing nothing. SoCons will have the choice of becoming even LESS influential or becoming constructive and remaining influential. What are you going to do when almost everyone you claim to respect supports Rudy?

The "rout" is coming to the Implacables. Rudy going into the Lion's den and having them eat out of his hand was VERY impressive. If you were honest you would admit it.

well sure, because Roe is still standing. the point is, is Roe is tossed, that does not means abortion will instantly become illegal - the issue will return to the states, as it was in 1973.

Nothing but pushing for and getting legislation through the congress banning partial birth abortion and pushing for and getting two superb supreme court justices appointed to the bench over the objections and filibusters of the died in the wool abortionist senate.

All but her most innocent and helpless citizens, you mean.

It's not an either OR situation; both can be accomplished.

But not with Hillary.

Funny. Very funny. A room full of college kids bused in for the task. More like a bunch of pussy-cats.

We could have made this a drinking game and whenever liberal Rudy - who denounced Reagan in his 1993 campaign - invoked Reagan or connected himself to the Reagan Revolution, we could have all taken a drink. (I'm not a drinker though). And everyone would be drunk by now.

Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff. First, I think you need to start drinking, because you are way to tight and that's not good for your health.

Second, you need to go back to Political Science 101. I can recall the first day of class during my freshman year of college many years ago when a nut named "Jimmah" lived in the White House. The professor asked "What is the number one goal of every politician?" Hands shot up and we gave all the ususal answers that he expected to hear like saving the world from global cooling, ending poverty, filling potholes, protecting children, promoting peace and prosperity, blah, blah, blah. After letting us go on for a few minutes, he slammed his hand on the desk and yelled, "No! The number one goal of every politician is to get elected and then re-elected and don't you ever forget it."

My point is that Rudy Guilliani ran as a Republican in the most liberal city in America and he won -- twice. If he had campaigned as the second coming of Ronald Reagan, then he would have lost the election in a landslide and we would have had four more years of David Dinkins or Mark Green or Ruth Messenger, etc., who would have tripled the welfare rolls, embraced panhandlers, coddled murderers, and allowed NYC to continue her slide into the most disgustingly corrupt, dirty, and dangerous city in Western Civilization. Guilliani also would have lost the election by a landslide if he had campaigned on the Pro-Life platform or if he had actively adopted an anti-gay theme. Rudy did he what he had to do to get elected -- and yes, to some extent he pandered like every other politician who is serious about getting elected. The difference between Guilliani and other politicians, however, is that he doesn't deny what he said previously, flip-flop, or try to excuse positions that he may have taken to get elected in the past in order to get elected today. He is what he is, and many of us find that refreshing even if we don't agree with some of the positions that he has taken in the past. No candidate is perfect, however. The greatest president of the 20th Century -- perhaps one of the five greatest of all times -- gave amnesty to illegal aliens and approved a tax on social security. George H. W. Bush raised taxes despite his campaign promise to the contrary.

Third, you are turning into the "little boy who cried wolf" in that many of your comments about Guilliani are simply not true or are based upon nothing more than sound bites that you have distorted or taken out of context in support of your agenda. For example, to the best of my knowledge, Guilliani never "denounced" Ronald Reagan as you claim. Although he may not have embraced Reagan as the cornerstone of his campaign, he certain didn't denounce him by any definition of the word. He also didn't "abandon" his wife and children and didn't throw them out of the house as you claim. (If I recall correctly, he -- not she -- moved out of the mayorial mansion). Yes, he did divorce his wife, but so have millions and millions of other people including Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich (a two time loser), and Rush (a three time loser). In fact, when Reagan dumped his first wife, he also "abandoned" two children, ages seven and three.
