All day today we are covering speakers and panels at the 34th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC. This morning, we'll hear from Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He will be followed by Reps. Scott Garrett (NJ), Tom Tancredo (CO), and others.

It's not how many times HE says it, its how many times Rudy has said it, and how many times he MIGHT say it as President.
Imagine President Rudy denouncing the annual pro-life march as religious extremists, and appearing at the annual NARAL banquet to honor the woman who most personifies the great tradition of massacreing the next generation.
He could well do that -- he hasn't denounced NARAL or supported the pro-life movement.
Any evidence that these folks are unprincipled power mad people, or is it just the same kind of gut instinct that led many Freepers to believe that the dems would be vanquished on election day, 2006?

Like I said. They have no problem informing the dark horse backers that money will be the boss come primary time, given the front-loaded schedule. Hence the need for political battle now, not later.

When I first came here, I mentioned that my sister, who had ovarian cancer, had had stem cell replacement.
It took about two minutes from some morally smug type to come along and tell me that my sister had lived long enough and she didn't need those embyonic stem cells.
She didn't bother waiting for me to clarify that they were HER stem cells, but she was FINE with my sister dying.
Pretty telling, IMO.
Both sides have gone way overboard in attacking other posters.
But as regards candidates, if you can't stand someone calling your choice names, this probably isn't the place for you.
Happily, I believe this is the enthusiasm of a small minority.

Funny, the GOP was vanquished largely because they became more enamored of their power than committed to core GOP values. You made my point for me.
I just can't leave the forum because I have been here so long and I cherish my contacts with some of those who post here.
I am, however, finding other things to do, like reading books. That is what I am going to do this afternoon, and I will, perhaps, check in on this thread sometime this evening.

I though it was a outstanding presentation. It's a long time till the primaries, but he's going to be tough to beat.
As a Gingrich/Hunter fan who will become a Rudybot if he wins the nominations, I'd like to see the anti-Rudy's, successful in slowing Rudy's momentum on FR, take a higher profile.
Future speachs should be picketed. A dozen protestors could do it effectively.
A couple protestors with signs of dead fetus'. A couple signs of Rudy in drag. Barbara Olson rolling over in her grave. An adultery thing, don't know what, but between the zipper and limp linguine comments, I know something can be put together. A gay marriage. A consumation poster if you want.
I think it will be effective. Take your message public, I'm sure you'll attract media attention. I'm sure it will be positive, a credit to the candidates you endorse. Someone other than Gingrich/Hunter please.
I know you will stop Rudy in his tracks. It's sure been effective here.
