All day today we are covering speakers and panels at the 34th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC. This morning, we'll hear from Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He will be followed by Reps. Scott Garrett (NJ), Tom Tancredo (CO), and others.

the only nut I see is you. Look, we know your only concern is abortion. WE KNOW..WE GET IT. Nothing you post, nothing you say...nothing is going to effect the outcome of this election and it's going to be Pres. Guiliani. So you're going to have to come up with something to calm yourself down...or else you're going to have to go on some medication.
CPAC is becoming a socialist convention.. for faux liberals and sneaky conservatives..
Didn't sound like a joke to me, but a guy out of touch with the conservative mind. No surprise there.
I gotta get some work done. Will be listening to hear what he has to say about guns, gays and right to life.
***wipes Diet Coke from screen***
Rudy talking about the 1st attack on the WTC in 1993 & USS Cole.
What color is the sky on your planet?
CPAC is becoming a socialist convention.. for faux liberals and sneaky conservatives.. maaaaybeeeee
mmmmmmmm TREASONOUS LIBERALS !!!!!
"Freedom is about authority," Giuliani said .. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority..That's a pretty sick and perverted view of 'Freedom'. It's dictatorial and un-American.http://www.alternet.org/election04/19673/
Anyone who criticized Clinton for his lies and infedility, yet supports Giuliani is a moral and intellectual hypocrite.
Back on. What I've seen before the technical difficulties and after is excellent. Rudy is used to speaking to people. He can explain things and he is persuasive.
Rudy says we are right at fighting terrorism, not critizing and monday morning quarterbacking at everything goes wrong.
Contrary to your cynicism, one reason Rudy is getting support from conservatives (aside from the fact that he is conservative on a number of issues), and among evangelicals, is that he speaks his convictions.
Rudy (technical problems resolved)
This isn't our war. This is their war on us. We desire peace. This war is over when they stop planning to come here and kills us.
Then the war is over. Until then, we have to remain on offense against terrorists. (EXCELLENT!)
The thing that President Bush did for us that I believe will be the same that Harry Truman made in early stages of the Cold War in challenging aggression...Truman was unpopular then but if he'd made bad decisions who knows how long.
President Bush wasin office 8 mos. when 9/11 happened. And all of a sudden he is faced with the worst domestic attack in the nation's history. WIthin a few days, he put us on a new course and turned th eship arond. Until then, we were on defense. They would attack us and sometimes we would respond and sometimes we wouldn't.
We didn't respond as though they were at war with us. We responded as though it was a criminal matter. We didn't get the fact in early 90's that they were at war with us, including attacks in NYC.
Didn't respond to USS Cole at all. I don't blame people. It's destructive to do that. Hindsight of a shocking event makes people see things.
But I do blame people who can't see after 9/11. What President Bush and what we have to build on and expand and figure out how to do better, because that's the nature of goverment and war -- you'll succeed at some things and fail at others. Battle of the Buldge was probably the worst intelligence disaster in American history. Big, big mistake made by some of the greatest Americans.
The reality is that the general thrust of what we're doing is enormousy important. Offense means using military power to stop them, cage them, intelligence resources and be able to use our ability to persuade and education and stop them and persuade them.
We need the Patriot Act, electronic surveillance and interrogation.
In an earlie rpart of my life, I prosecuted a little terrorism but mostly organized crime. I think about it and I don't remember anyone saying I want to tell you about the Gambino crime family. No one comes in and tells you. We found out by breaching their privacy and having electronic surveillance and spies and getting into their affairs both here and Italy and all oer the world.
Then we found out about the murders they were planning and the unions they controlled. That's what we have to do with terrorism. But it requires offense. We need all the tools.
The democrats are uncomfortable iwth this and they want to...they want to go back to the way they were doing it in the 90's which is be on defense, bring in the UN and France (crowd boos)
We need an American president who understands the necessity to be on offense. We all need to understand that America has the right ideas. We shouldn't be embarrassed abouat ourselves or have our heads down.
"We need a President who understands we have to be on offense".
There's a hint of truth in that statement. While the convention's exhibit hall and speakers list is still dominated by conservative notables, the ACLU has a table in the exhibit hall, and there are a handful of "conservative" Muslim groups, such as a Muslim free enterprise organization.
America has the right ideas - we shouldn't be embarassed about ourselves. ..our problems should be solved from our strengths.
The boo was from his mention of France..LOL.
How are you doing that?
I sanyone recording the early sessions, including Rudy? I will have the balance of the schedule (1pm-end EST) available on DVD-R to trade. Thank!
Rudy says the Democrats want to go back to the 1990's on defense against terror, using the UN etc.
