Always good to have the class of '98 chiming in - back when we were activists!

You bet. It is a little discouraging to post anymore when the RINO'S and Liberals are trying control things here.

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do here. I have to read through this whole thread and watch Rudy's speach at CPAC myself.

To the FReepers in attendance and the millions watching around the world on Pay Per View…Ladies and Gentleman...

"Introducing first, to my right, fighting out of the red corner, wearing their Sunday best with a gold crucifix...weighing in at 800 pounds...the social conservatives, the religious right, the champions of family values...from the Southern States...The Evangelicals!" (wild applause)

"And in the blue corner, wearing an off the rack suit, Goldwater ’64 lapel pin and a belt 2 sizes too small...weighing in at 140 pounds soaking wet...the fiscal conservatives, the last champions of limited government...from the Western States...The Libertarians!" (wild applause)

I don’t know how Rudy always manages to be in the wrong (right) place at the right (wrong) time. First in the middle of 9/11 and then this battle between the social and fiscal conservatives.

Now you're saying that the people at CPAC are liberals?

Sorry to keep dropping in late on this thread (it's taking me a while to work through it in between doing things in real life).

But yes, while you were away I had two anti-Rudy posters insist to me repeatedly that CPAC was insufficiently conservative. This they declared the moment it was announced that Rudy would be speaking.

This is the problem with the conservative movement in a nutshell. The fundamentalist fringe DOES NOT represent traditional conservatism. I hope Jim Robinson realizes that and helps FR become the forefront of a real "Back to basics" movement, not one that worships the ground Bush walks on or focuses on wedge issues that are political dead ends.

I'm sure you realize that without limited government libertarians, the social conservatives would be powerless forever. And without the Evangelicals on board, limited governement conservatives have no hope. Face it, my friend, we are stuck with each other...For better or worse, for richer or poorer, till death do us part.

Like it or not for many voters the WOT is more important than abortion or gun rights or gay marriage. That's simply a fact.

I don't see that as simple fact. If the WOT was that big of a vote getter we wouldn't have lost in November.

If rudy wins, 75 million don't care, most of the 4 million have enough sense to realize that Hillary or Obama are worse, so it's no longer an issue.

what makes you think so, especialy if their issue is guns? They might not see a difference.

Extend that to other issues. This is a primary battle.

Add up all those hot button issues and that is alot of voters.

Like it or not for many voters the WOT is more important than abortion or gun rights or gay marriage. That's simply a fact.

I believe that is important to many voters as it should be, but not to enough as we seen clearly in November. Even to those Republican primary voters who consider the WOT the most important issue, pro-life and gun issues are still high on the list of priorities. Excuse me, but Rudy is not the only candidate strong on national security issues in fact when it comes to some things like border security for national security he is quite weak. If the WOT is the BIG issue, someone like like Hunter might fit the bill alot better. Looks like he is being discovered, and I bet that is part of what is attracting his fans.

And I neither think it's a matter of replacing "family values voters" with pro-homosexual, pro-choice voters

I believe this is not anything you would consider or want, but I believe it is the goal of the liberal wing or the Rockerfellow Republican, including some of them from FR. (read it daily)

You know as a candidate I dislike Rudy immensely, but I can see his strengths too. I just don't think his few strengths are any better than those who have the whole package of Republican principles.

I don't understand the allure of Rudy, unless one is part of the "its my party too" mentality?

Thankyou for civil debate.

Please put forth your theory how Rudy can make up lost socon votes.

First, you've seen it here on Free Republic. Seems he appeals to at least half if not more on this forum. This is probably one of the largest representative collections of socons, especially those with activist leanings.

Second, he is entirely acceptable to most of those who tend to vote republican who don't consider themselves socons.

Third, he has large appeal to moderates

Finally, he can capture the softer edges of the liberal voter, because he is acceptable to them on some of their issues.

Didn't you used to work for Rush in some capacity? I may be off base, but it sticks in my mind that you did.

Grown as in age, or emotionally? I see lots of college freshmen here.

You would have really enjoyed the posts about me that claimed I had boasted about sexual exploits on FR, which was a total lie. One of the "mean girls club",only reason was to slander , and discredit me.

There are jerks on both sides, depends on what side one wants to take.

What does that have to do with my post? We all understand that liberals are victims.

You asked a question about my identity. I answered it, appropriating the new term of art promoted by this forum for Giuliani supporters.

I didn't mean to reveal your identity. I only asked if you worked for Rush. You used to admit it, correct?
