It's not an either OR situation; both can be accomplished Not with Rudy McRomney.

Not only has the "battle" started it will be over within six months. You just don't realize it. Everyday from now on it will be raging.
Besides it isn't conservatives you speak for but the FAR Right. They are not the same thing.
To: Sunsong
There's no real difference between their desire to control American and the far left's desire to control America. They both think they know what's best for us and it's not personal freedom. You nailed them. The political spectrum is closer to a circle than a right-left straight line. The far out lefties are actually closer to the far-out righties than the majority.

That room full of college kids represented more votes than Keyes received in his last two runs at office.

When you do an analysis, there really isn't anyone but Rudy. Newt polls as high or higher, but he, too, has issues. Mitt is too slick for my taste and is a flipper, McCain is a manchurian.... Rudy refusing to flip-flop is why I believe him when he says he will go for constructionist judges... if he does and really attacks the WOT we will be strides ahead of anyone of the dem candiates.

Funny. Very funny. A room full of college kids bused in for the task. More like a bunch of pussy-cats.Wow, I think I'll link your post on the FR CPAC thread and see what the people there think.
You're willing to trash anybody and everybody, aren't you?

You nailed them. The political spectrum is closer to a circle than a right-left straight line. The far out lefties are actually closer to the far-out righties than the majority. Exactly - the issues are different - but the desire to control is the same. Both extremes think they know what's best for us and that they can run our lives better than we ourselves can.

Sorry to parachute in late.
Has anyone mentioned the "mysterious phone problem" Rudy's spokesman had this morning on Bill Bennet's show?
Bill was asking Simon about amnesty for illegals, and there was perhaps five seconds of dead air, then Simon said he was having phone problems (though it didn't sound like it). They cut to commercial, when they came back, Simon gave a limp answer about a technical fence on the border, etc.
After it was over, Bill read emails questioning the phone problem, and said "what can I say, the interview stands on its own".

Well I am almost a single issue voter. National security (destroying Islamic terrorism) is my issue. EVERYTHING else is far down the list.

Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff, Spiff. First, I think you need to start drinking, because you are way to tight and that's not good for your health.
Second, you need to go back to Political Science 101. I can recall the first day of class during my freshman year of college many years ago when a nut named "Jimmah" lived in the White House. The professor asked "What is the number one goal of every politician?" Hands shot up and we gave all the ususal answers that he expected to hear like saving the world from global cooling, ending poverty, filling potholes, protecting children, promoting peace and prosperity, blah, blah, blah. After letting us go on for a few minutes, he slammed his hand on the desk and yelled, "No! The number one goal of every politician is to get elected and then re-elected and don't you ever forget it."
My point is that Rudy Guilliani ran as a Republican in the most liberal city in America and he won -- twice. If he had campaigned as the second coming of Ronald Reagan, then he would have lost the election in a landslide and we would have had four more years of David Dinkins or Mark Green or Ruth Messenger, etc., who would have tripled the welfare rolls, embraced panhandlers, coddled murderers, and allowed NYC to continue her slide into the most disgustingly corrupt, dirty, and dangerous city in Western Civilization. Guilliani also would have lost the election by a landslide if he had campaigned on the Pro-Life platform or if he had actively adopted an anti-gay theme. Rudy did he what he had to do to get elected -- and yes, to some extent he pandered like every other politician who is serious about getting elected. The difference between Guilliani and other politicians, however, is that he doesn't deny what he said previously, flip-flop, or try to excuse positions that he may have taken to get elected in the past in order to get elected today. He is what he is, and many of us find that refreshing even if we don't agree with some of the positions that he has taken in the past. No candidate is perfect, however. The greatest president of the 20th Century -- perhaps one of the five greatest of all times -- gave amnesty to illegal aliens and approved a tax on social security. George H. W. Bush raised taxes despite his campaign promise to the contrary.
Third, you are turning into the "little boy who cried wolf" in that many of your comments about Guilliani are simply not true or are based upon nothing more than sound bites that you have distorted or taken out of context in support of your agenda. For example, to the best of my knowledge, Guilliani never "denounced" Ronald Reagan as you claim. Although he may not have embraced Reagan as the cornerstone of his campaign, he certain didn't denounce him by any definition of the word. He also didn't "abandon" his wife and children and didn't throw them out of the house as you claim. (If I recall correctly, he -- not she -- moved out of the mayorial mansion). Yes, he did divorce his wife, but so have millions and millions of other people including Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich (a two time loser), and Rush (a three time loser). In fact, when Reagan dumped his first wife, he also "abandoned" two children, ages seven and three.
GREAT POST!!

Not really. Not for an established effective politician it isn't. Just more time to solidify his support.

Often referred to as the single issue voters. Fact is, it's you and your friends who are single-issue voters. You only care about one thing, and one thing alone: Your perception of electability. Every conservative principle is expendable to you people.
The Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity campaign is doing more than anything that has gone before to vividly highlight that fact.
