Cop accused of slur against Rep. Ellison (MN)

A Minneapolis police lieutenant faces an internal investigation into recent comments that fellow officers say implied that U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison is a terrorist. The comments allegedly were made during a required police ethics training class this week by Lt. Bob Kroll, according to Mayor R.T. Rybak. In a highly unusual move, Chief Tim Dolan sent an e-mail to all employees saying the comments were unacceptable and unflattering to the department. Dolan also issued a public apology to Ellison, a Democrat from Minneapolis and the first Muslim elected to Congress.

Kroll, an officer with Minneapolis for 18 years and vice president of the Police Federation, denied Thursday that he called Ellison a terrorist or that he even mentioned him by name during the class. Kroll will remain on duty during the internal investigation.

He said he'd be "a little smarter than that" -- than to make such comments with his boss and the deputy chief of professional standards in the room.

Rybak said the comments are "shockingly ignorant" if it's true Kroll made them.

Rybak said the comments are "shockingly ignorant" if it's true Kroll made them.

Translation: "extremely politically incorrect." The cop is guilty only of "ignorance" that free speech does not apply to government workers anymore, despite the first Amendment.

In my agency, some guys realized they weren't really cut out for police work, but they pay and bennies were far more than the market would pay else where.

They were the types that sought out management positions.

I can safely say 95% were moral and physical cowards, but fun to play with.

So hiring/appointing a convicted pervert as a city coordinator is okay with the mayor, but a cop calling a Muslim a Muslim isn't?

Sheesh. First the airport authority, now the cops. Don't they understand that the whole objective here is power over others for a specific religion, in violation of every Constitutional and common-law principle? We might as well circle the place on the map and mark it "occupied territory."

You just K-fived that target, friend. The other amusing thing about those admin types is that they equated nonsense paperwork(as opposed to police reports needed to convict)with felonies. It was that important to them.
Meetings, they always loved their frigging meetings the way real cops liked putting the habeas grabbus on crooks.
