FYI...Regarding my decision to take the short drive down to the Wellesley campus:I called the Archives Dept at Wellesley to confirm that the general public can view Die Schlickfrau's magnum opus and found that it *is* true but that demand is heavy enough so that one is wise to make an appointment...which I did.
So next Monday at 9AM I'll be at their office and will,I assume,be handed the one and only copy available to the public.
I understand that copying is not allowed but that one can take notes...so I'll do my best and report back.

OK, sounds like a hand-held scanner won't be "illegal" just probably "not wanted" - keep it in your pocket until you get the document open in front of you.
Should we check for fingerprints? It might be the only thesis in history never handled by the author!
