Renewable and clean energy are good goals regardless of the existence or not of man-made global warming.

Yeah, I know. And he knows. And he's hedging all bets and covering all bases:

Bracewell has represented many of the biggest names in big oil, refinery, natural-gas and power production, including ChevronTexaco, Reliant Energy and Dynegy. In addition to its four Texas branches, the firm has offices in oil-rich Almaty, Kazakhstan and London.

While there’s probably no Manuel Noriega on the Bracewell & Giuliani client list, the affiliation could come to have its own political baggage: While there over the summer, Mr. Giuliani drew attention for his position that the United States should build more nuclear-power plants to meet its energy demands.

And if it saves JUST ONE life it will be worth it...right?

There is an infinite supply of energy at some price. There is just not an infinite supply of cheap energy. You simply cannot talk about energy without talking price. Renewability? What does that have to do with the price?...other than making the energy more expensive. When cheaper sources are gone, it will be the source.

Clean? Whats cleaner (or cheaper) than nuclear power? Where are the calls to build those plants? right.

"Renewable and clean energy are good goals regardless of the existence or not of man-made global warming."

Correct, as long as we keep the foundation on common sense, not hysteria. I'll happily do a hybrid vehicle and alternative fuels when they actually make sense, and do more good than harm. The prime example of what's going on here is Fat Boy Teddie's very, VERY forceful opposition to the Nantucket Sound wind farm project, which would provide 1/3 to 1/2 of the electrical needs of Cape Cod cleanly, safely, and economically without a dime going to the Middle East. " But.. but.. you don't understand.. it's in MY playground.. I could see it .. right from MY house... FROM MY HOUSE!!!!!... No, no it...it just won't do. Won't do at all."

Let's add one word: affordable.

It's not a good allocation of resources otherwise.

Certainly... but promoting clean energy is not really what the modern enviro-movement is really about.
