Austria, in-flight collision: eight deaths
Salzburg, Austria - One plane and one helicopter involved
(WAPA) - A spokesman of the Zell am See airport, Province of Salzburg, has announced that today a tourist plane, with only the pilot on board, took off from the airport heading to Lienz, Tyrol, and crashed down due to an in-flight collision against a helicopter.
The helicopter was carrying a heavy cargo aimed to Kaprun power station, with seven passengers on board.
The collision occurred near the above mentioned airport, and the two aircraft have crashed down on a little forestry. Rescuers (more than 200 helped by four helicopters), could do nothing more than ascertain the death of the eight victims. According to some witnesses, the collision has been frontal, causing a fire raging.
