I agree with some of that, pissant, and I know that China is becoming a problem on several levels. But an anti-trader like Hunter could do great damage to the economy and I'm not sure he has the finesse to work his way through all the issues surrounding this matter.
Having said that, I've watched Hunter on C-Span and he handles himself well and is bright. Also, I think the powers that be in the GOP would take him aside and persuade him to change his mind about some of those issues in exchange for more support from the GOP.
Gertz has written about these issues regarding China and he's one of the few reporters I actually have respect for in DC.
Exactly how? By forcing China to end a one-sided trade relationship by opening up their own markets? In other words, the way free trade is SUPPOSED to work?
The problem is you don't realize that Hunter is NOT an anti trader. He is a free trader in the Reagan mold. That means not tolerating trade agreements that go against our interest or that provide our enemies advantages. CHina has gained both. Mexico, though not an enemy, is screwing us as well, though its more accurate to say we are screwing ourselves.
Now, what you haven't heard: Hunter complaining about trade with Japan, the philipines, england, holland, chile, brazil, australia, New Zealand, SoKo, France, Norway, Poland, etc, etc, etc.
