A society in which winning political power entitles you to punish your political opponents for treason is Hell on earth, as many recent and remote examples show. That's why the Constitution defines treason, taking that act of legislation out of the hands of Congress.
And the anti-Rudy folk who are so comfortable with the accusation reveal their goals for when they are in power - which is why they won't ever get there.

I certainly agree that if these anti-Rudy folk such as we are seeing here demonstrate in the primary process that they are 1/3 of the voters and that they are irreconcilable, that Rudy might need to step aside.
But I don't think they are 1/3 of the Republican electorate. I don't even think they are 1% of the Republican electorate, which is why they are so loud and vituperative right now.
