Baghdad reported on March 1 that according to knowledgeable sources in Baghdad, Muqtada Al-Sadr is staying with his cousin in Qom, Iran, Sayed Ja'far Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr. Also staying in Qom are many of the commanders of the Al-Mahdi army; they are being housed and financed by the Iranian government.

It would have been great if the "surge" came as a surprise so that he would have still been in Iraq when it happened
To: jmc1969
We need to nuke Qom then...

Wonder if the knowledgable source includes a certain General?

"Also staying in Qom are many of the commanders of the Al-Mahdi army; they are being housed and financed by the Iranian government." Well, the "visiting sick relatives" story is obviously false.

There was a Tom Clancy book in which the US president wanted to nuke Qom, Iran- "Sum of All Fears" maybe? But that pansy Jack Ryan stopped him. :)

Mookies situation parallels the WMD situation. Fighting with the traitors on our side, bought time to get him out of the country. Liberals win, America loses.

I remember when "Nightline" was still "America Held Hostage," and Khomeini would make statements from "the holy city of Qom"--pronounced Ghoom. We should make a list of "holy cities," starting with Mecca, and...

The sad thing is that he will lie low until America gets Iraq fairly quiet and cut the troop levels, then Mookie will come back and take over just like the way Saddam took over.
