ANNAPOLIS -- Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. wants to increase Maryland's sales tax on gasoline by 12 cents a gallon, part of a revenue plan that also includes bringing 15,500 slot machines to the state and cutting government positions. "There's going to be cuts, there's going to be slots, there's going to be tax increases," Mr. Miller said yesterday. "And it's going to be tough for some people, but they're going to have to suck it up and move forward for the good of the state."

Yup... I too would also like to take a few minutes to thank those "conservatives" who stayed home to teach the "wayward" now ex-Governor a "lesson" that we will never forget.
When Republican Ehlrich wanted to bring in slots, the democratic-controlled senate REFUSED absolutely. Now, that a democrat in governor, they're all for it. I am SOOOOOO glad I left that God-forsaken state!
Agree with the slots, a lot of $$$ goes across the border to WV/DEL/PA/NJ....

How the Rats keep getting elected in Maryland? Easy! Combine the welfare queens in Baltimore, the Federal employees and contractors in Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties, and a heavy dose of crooked unions and you get an almost unbeatable Dem majority.
The only thing worse would be reabsorbing the part of DC north of the Potomac into Maryland. Virginia already got the wealthy part south of the river.

He is obviously a genius in all areas.
I didn't elect these bozos. I voted pretty much a straight Republican ticket. The Democrats only won in Montgomery, Howard, Baltimore, Prince Georges, and one other place. Western and Eastern Maryland vote predominately republican. Ehrlich carried the western and eastern counties.
