A responsible person who is dating would say at some point early on in the relationship, "Hey, I have herpes."

And what point in a dating relationship is earlier than before two people have even made contact? Signing up on a dating website for people who don't wish to infect others, or even break their hearts by coming clean after there has been some emotional attachment is a kind, decent, responsible thing to do.

This is as close as it comes to wearing a sign around your neck. How this threatens those who don't have STDs, and don't want to get them, is beyond me.

"How this threatens those who don't have STDs"

Wha?? Where did you come up with that? Did someone say they felt threatened?

"Signing up on a dating website for people who don't wish to infect others"

A dating website? Can you pass on genital herpes by merely dating someone?

Now, I could be wrong, and I know you'll correct me if I am, but it seems to me that those who sign up are essentially saying, "I'm looking for sex, but I want to be responsible about it".

What I called in my post, a swingers website. And, if you think about it, a website of people who have a history of making poor decisions in the past, acting irresponsibly and recklessly.

Why a person would want to choose someone from this pool as a potential life partner is beyond me. They are, of course, free to do so. I'm simply offering my observations.
