Italy arrests man for locking up "lively" wife

Wed Feb 28, 2007 11:02 AM GMT25

ROME, Feb 28 (Reuters Life!) - Italian police arrested a jealous husband in the north of the country who forced his young wife to stay at home for two years because she was "too lively" to be let outside.

"She was too lively. She absolutely had to be locked up otherwise who knows what she might have done," Egyptian immigrant Emad Zied, 31, was quoted as saying in Corriere della Sera daily newspaper on Wednesday.

His 20-year-old bride, Rasha, was rescued by local police and firemen who forced open the door of their apartment in the Italian city of Crema after a tip off from Rasha's family.

The report said that Rasha rarely ever saw the light of day, but was "escorted" outside by her husband on occasion. Zied is being held in jail on suspicion of kidnapping.

Credit goes to Little Green Footballs for linking to this story, and they note that Reuters is filing this story under their "Oddly Enough" genre.

Of course no mention is made by Reuters as to whether the actions of this 'man' may be motivated by any affiliation with Islam, the belief system that is legendary for treating women so very well.

Speaking for those poor married men who complain:

"We would love to have a wife that was too lively!"

Just thought I would be the first.

Does sound an awful lot like kidnapping, at least to Western ears. Who knows what sort of religious reasons he will invent to get out of trouble.

They say that the best part of fighting is the making up. Somehow I don't think so in this case.

Deport the bum, let the wife stay.

Day by day, more evidence that the Muslim culture is, at its best, just flat WEIRD!

Marrying a woman who is 11 years younger than he is, he expects her to adopt the level of animation typically exhibited by a corpse.  Very insightful of him.

Deport the bum, let the wife stay.

Prior to his deportation, a lengthy stay in one of Italy's more lively prisons seems an appropriate punishment.  Here in the USA, I seem to recall that at least at one point kidnapping was a crime punished almost to the level of murder....I'm not sure if that is still the case.

One of the very sad aspects of this matter is that this young lady will most likely be suffering for the rest of her life from the mental and emotional traumas inflicted upon her by this Neanderthal, who was quite likely applauded by his close friends who looked up to him for his 'dedication to propriety and tradition'.

Although the article doesn't state what this scum's religious affiliation is, his actions certainly mirror what we've come to expect from the Religion of Peace.

Hopefully in the days to come there will be followup articles on this event that will provide more information than this sparse blurb, but I doubt that they will come from Reuters.

Most likely.  With Reuters, one of the few things that we can count on is kid-glove treatment for Muzzies, as evidenced by their policy of avoiding the word 'terrorist' when reporting on terrorists.
