Rap is to music as etch-a-sketch is to fine art.
The Etch-A-Sketch requires some rudimentary skills-One could possibly explore melody, rhythm, balance, and harmony with one. One COULD explore rhythm with Kruschev's shoe on a table, I suppose, but at least THAT had a message.
A Day-Glo silk screened Elvis on black velvet would be my comparison. Vulgar by definition. Cheap. Sluttish. Tawdry. Demeaning. Foul. Devoid of a message.
Rap/Hip Hop is used by some as an offensive weapon, when used in conjunction with a kilowatt of bass. They KNOW most people hate it.
