You guys got it all wrong....PIGEON RACING! Pigeon racing is big money here on Taiwan. A-Chung will have his mainland cousin send him a few of these over and make a fortune!
My money says the scientist that came up with this is a pigeon racer also.

I suppose they will create a separate competition for 'rigged' pigeons. Pitting natural pigeons against implant pigeons would be viewed as unfair.

You got it right. I race pigeons and have made thousands of dollars flying in a one loft race in Vegas over the years (www.vegasrace.com). My Black Gold Loft houses about 200 of these flying athletes.
