I went to high school with a girl whose parents wanted to look euro, so they named their daughter Yvonne. They gave the game away, though, by pronouncing it Wye-vonne.
There does seem to be a certain allure to the French sounding names. Lots of Le and La and ette and elle that sometimes begin in sh and ch. Then there are the ita, que, and qua names. Huge number of permutations. I am sure someone has written a program to design such names.
LaChanelle, Shenette, LeCharles, LaShaqua, etc.
I knew a guy worked in a maternity ward who claimed that people had named their kids "Nosmoking" (nozz-moe-king), "Pajamas" (Padge-uh-muss), and "Urethra". Then there's the ever popular "Shithead" (shuh-theed).
He's probably right.
