A state legislator in Florida wants to put a stop to illegal aliens no, not undocumented immigrants, but the use of the term "illegal alien in official state documents.
Sen. Frederica Wilson, a Democrat whose district is home to thousands of Caribbean immigrants, said: "I personally find the word alien offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children. An alien to me is someone from out of [sic] space.
She has introduced a bill that would bar a state agency or official from using the term, Floridas News-Press.com reports.
"There are students in our schools whose parents are trying to become citizens and we shouldnt label them, she said. "They are immigrants, through no fault of their own, not aliens.
Wilson said she doesnt like the term "illegal, either.
"I like undocumented better, she said.
Ping
I like the term " Empty Headed Skank" when referring to the state legislator.
That pretty much paints the picture, doesn't it?
Government hasn't done anything intelligent since .....
LMAO!
I'm in Florida, and they won't be able to stop me from saying "illegal aliens."
I agree. It should be replaced by criminal immigrants.
What a moron! What will we do if REAL illegal aliens from out of space show up? What will we call them??
Wilson probably doesn't like the term "barking lib moonbat" either but that's exactly what she is.
Martians?
I don't think it's PC anymore to call a spade, a spade, either.....
I think I'm going to start using the word "undocumented" in place of "illegal" in all cases, I don't think it fits as a substitute.
"No, officer, these aren't illegal drugs, they're undocumented... just like the undocumented left turn I made at the last intersection."
alien: a person who is not a citizen of the land where he or she is found.
Sounds pretty clear to me.
If she cannot afford a dictionary, one can be appointed for her. Perhaps she could try http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/alien
