One of the things that caused me to ratchet up my involvement in politics back in the early 1990's was when Bill Clinton, speaking to the 1992 Democrat convention, themed his campaign and his primetime speech as "A New Covenant" with the American people. Audaciously, this wasn't the one written about two thousand years ago by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. It was a new covenant with Bill Clinton.
His blasphemous grab at earthly power using heavenly language, salted as it was with misquotes of Bible verses, infuriated and worried me. I told friends and colleagues at the time that this was a very dangerous man. They scoffed, but later, after watching him govern, came back and told me how right I had been.
Another thing that irked me, and motivated me, was Hillary Clinton's status as self-proclaimed "co-president," or, in this case, "co-god." She ruled as Hera to Bill's Zeus. In her arrogance, she thought no one could stop her from using the power of the executive branch, in concert with a Democrat Congress, to push through any policy she wished.
They quickly passed the largest tax increase in the history of man, with not a single Republican vote. Then they set their sights on what they considered the big prize: Socialized health care for all a government takeover of one-seventh of the U.S. economy.
As a small businessman, I'll never forget Hillary's public brushing-aside of the concerns of people like me with the arrogant words, "It's not my job to worry about all of these undercapitalized entrepreneurs." First of all, no one had elected her to anything, and secondly, it is the entrepreneur who is the backbone of the American economy.
But, as with all idolatrous pursuits, this one was ultimately doomed to fail. She reached too far. Once the American people were fully informed they reacted negatively, and soon even the Democrats abandoned her sinking ship like panicked rats. The sovereign people of the United States unceremoniously slapped her down off the pedestal she had built for herself.
The Clinton "co-presidency" was pretty much downhill from there. The Republican takeover of Congress in 1994, caused first and foremost by the wreck of HillaryCare, forced them to remake their policies to the extent that they were soon trying to out-Republican the Republicans.
Hillary was forced into the background as Dick Morris' strategy of "triangulation" was used to moderate Bill's image in preparation for the 1996 reelection campaign. They succeeded, because of the short attention span of the American people, and because the Republicans nominated Bob Dole.
I will only briefly reiterate part of the disaster that was the rest of the Clinton co-presidency: Scandal piled on top of scandal; impeachment for lying under oath; the sale of critical technology to probable future enemies for campaign cash; the "big carrot, no stick" foreign policy that laid the groundwork for 9-11, etc.; capped with the final infamy, the sale of presidential pardons for cash. It seems fitting, I suppose, that they ended their eight years in power by misusing that most godlike of executive powers, the pardon.
Liberals loved to refer to Ronald Reagan as "the Teflon President," because none of their attempts to slime him ever managed to stick. He was too smart for them, and he was beloved by the American people. But, Reagan, in retrospect, looks like Velcro compared to the Clintons.
After leaving the White House, with their moving vans loaded with presidential property and artifacts, Hillary quickly set about regaining what she had been forced to leave behind. She parlayed the power and money gained from eight years as co-president into a seat in the United States Senate.
Hillary may be evil, and she may be ambitious, but she isn't stupid. Not by any stretch of the imagination. She learned her lessons well, and she no longer wears her radical leftwing views on her sleeve. Her time in the Senate has been put to good use in moderating her image in preparation for 2008.
As the Bush era nears its end, the transformation of Hillary from shrill feminist into Oprah is complete. She "listens" with saintly patience as she pursues a "conversation with the American people." Her willing sycophants in the media and entertainment industries have conspired with her to give her a soft edge and a new friendly face.
But, now she's moving to the next necessary stage to complete her return to the top of Mount Olympus. Take a look at her presidential exploratory committee's website. Her slick media presentation is the best that money can buy. It's of documentary quality, and is designed to present her as a loving and benevolent god. She's already made her reputation as a forgiver of Bill's many sins. Now she promises to heal the sick, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, all while bringing peace on earth, goodwill to men. She's saving walking on water until later in the campaign when it can have the most impact.
It's ironic that the godless Democratic Party should flock so enthusiastically to worship at the Clinton altar. But, it's predictable, I suppose. The human heart has a God-shaped void at its center. If that space isn't filled by the One True God the Creator and Giver of our unalienable rights to life and liberty human nature will always seek out a replacement.
However, we who have resisted such temptations can rest secure in the knowledge that the True and Living God retains His veto pen, and that He has a history of toppling idols. After all, His first commandment still stands firm: "You shall have no other gods before Me."
By God's grace, perhaps the American people will remember this most important truth before it's too late, and wisely choose truly God-fearing men and women to lead us in the perilous days that are just ahead. As someone once said, "Those who fear God need fear nothing else."

Seems about right. Interesting take.
As right on as anything I've read yet.

That would be very interesting to see.
Absolutely. Vote for a tolerance-of-all-sin liberal, and all you'll get is tribulation.
Yep.
Great article!
Most excellent essay, Tom. Taxman Bravo Zulu!
We all must do whatever we can to keep this hateful woman(?)out of the White House!
bump and bookmark for later enjoyment. :)
Truth, well spoken.
She is running for Stalin; she is a God-denier.
H-Hour, Day 2
J. Bradford DeLong is a professor of economics at Berkeley, a veteran of the Clinton administration, and the author of an extremely interesting blog about economics, history, and politics (recommended only if you are prepared to push past some pretty insulting comments about President Bush, his administration, and Republicans in general). DeLong worked with Hillary Clinton on the health-care taskforce of 1993-94. Here are his thoughts about Hillary Clinton's presidential ambitions:
"My two cents' worth--and I think it is the two cents' worth of everybody who worked for the Clinton Administration health care reform effort of 1993-1994--is that Hillary Rodham Clinton needs to be kept very far away from the White House for the rest of her life. Heading up health-care reform was the only major administrative job she has ever tried to do. And she was a complete flop at it. She had neither the grasp of policy substance, the managerial skills, nor the political smarts to do the job she was then given. And she wasn't smart enough to realize that she was in over her head and had to get out of the Health Care Czar role quickly.
"So when senior members of the economic team said that key senators like Daniel Patrick Moynihan would have this-and-that objection, she told them they were disloyal. When junior members of the economic team told her that the Congressional Budget Office would say such-and-such, she told them (wrongly) that her conversations with CBO head Robert Reischauer had already fixed that. When long-time senior hill staffers told her that she was making a dreadful mistake by fighting with rather than reaching out to John Breaux and Jim Cooper, she told them that they did not understand the wave of popular political support the bill would generate. And when substantive objections were raised to the plan by analysts calculating the moral hazard and adverse selection pressures it would put on the nation's health-care system... [ellipses in original]
"Hillary Rodham Clinton has already flopped as a senior administrative official in the executive branch--the equivalent of an Undersecretary. Perhaps she will make a good senator. But there is no reason to think that she would be anything but an abysmal president"
Here's a Hillary expose written by former Freeper Joanie-F that contains a great list of all her crimes:
