Covering the News the Left Wing Way (O'Reilly on the fmr. head of the ACLU)
Foxnews ^ | 2/27/07 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 02/27/2007 4:02:03 PM PST by scottdeus12

On Friday, we reported that 51-year-old Charles Rust-Tierney, an attorney and former head of the ACLU in Virginia, was arrested and charged in federal court with possessing child pornography. Agents found videos in his home of little girls being violently raped by adults.

We said we'd report back to you today on which news organizations covered the story and which did not. The two biggest left-wing outfits in the country — The New York Times and NBC News —ignored the story entirely. CBS News, CNN, and most of the big city liberal newspapers also failed to cover the Rust-Tierney arrest. ABCnews.com and the Associated Press did cover. And because it happened in their backyard, The Washington Post ran a brief story in its second section, essentially burying the entire thing.

Bill nails it...from the article:

The same thing happened when John Edwards refused to fire two anti-Christian bloggers he had hired to work on his campaign. NBC News didn't cover it, nor did CBS or ABC.

In fact, Edwards appeared on The Today Show shortly after his bloggers were forced to quit. He wasn't even asked about it.

This is yet more proof that the American press is corrupt. And it pains me to say it. But journalism in this country is at a low point. — And it comes right before one of the most important presidential elections in history.

Much of the mainstream media are now invested in promoting ideology at the expense of providing honest information. The folks are being short changed.

Here I go again, but I don't see why this should be a HUGE story. He's the EX head of a local chapter of the ACLU. Sorry, don't see why this is a big thing. But on another topic, let's see if he gets 200 years as did the other guy who had pictures of children being raped.

Yes, clearly the MSM lean liberal. They are collectively pushing their agenda.

It shows how important it is to have the internet and talk radio to present contrasting points of view.

It's a cliche but there is a silent majority in America. Why didn't Air America do well when they billed themselves as presenting the other side of issues and that Rush and the boys are full of it?

You could discuss this on so many issues. Why is state after state voting to ban same sex marriage, when the MSM opinion is that we should be tolerant and allow it?

Why are so many liberal types, saying that global warming is a fact, caused by our activities, and those same folks want to silence anyone who says let the scientific research continue to really see what's going on? Geez, Ellen Goodman even compared the skeptics of global warming to holocaust deniers since it's so obvious to her.

yes, there is media bias in how they present certain issues, and in what stories they decide not to cover. This ACLU guy with child pornography is just not worthy of importance to them. If somebody in the ACLJ or Dr. Dobson's organization had child pornography charges, do you think the MSM would bury such a story.

Then the liberals and MSM are outraged over the alleged outing of a secret identity of a CIA agent in the Scooter Libby case. But those same people approve of publishing our secret terrorist surveillance tactics in the New York Times.

You beat me to it. On the other hand, why was the other guy charged under state statute and this guy is charged under federal statute? Child pornography is child pornography no matter what state a person is in.

Why have we not seen a photo of this guy? The WaPo was disgraceful burying this story in the B Section under the Crime Log. One can just imagine if this had been a principle of some right leaning organization. No mention of the status with his wife who heads a death penalty abolition group. What is going on that this story has gotten so little play. I mean, you can't make it up; this guy was the ACLU advocate arguing against Internet filters at public libraries. I glad O'Reilly is doggin' it; I'm waiting for his mobile team to confront this guy and ask him why he liked to watch movies of children being brutalized.

You are expressing the same sentiments as that Left Wing Democrat gal that was on O'Reilly along with Michelle Malkin. Stay away from the koolaid.

If The New York Times and NBC News can explain why they didn't cover the ACLU debacle, I'd like to hear it. If not, all Americans should turn away from them.

Way ahead of you Bill.
