ANNAPOLIS -- State lawmakers attempting again to ban assault weapons in Maryland are hoping Gov. Martin O'Malley will give his support as hearings on the issue begin today. "That's what we think is very different this year than in the past," said Sen. Michael G. Lenett, Montgomery Democrat and chief sponsor of the bill. An armed society insures public safety. The Los Angeles bank robbers reaked havoc because of 'public safety' gun laws.
Since when was a gun ban conducive to public safety?
Emotional blather to pander to his bed-wetting liberal base. Where is the science to show any benefit to public safety by banning "ugly" semi-automatic rifles and not others? That is all it is since there is no such thing as an "assault rifle." Where is the data to show that banning any kind of firearm will improve public safety? Nowhere because it doesn't exist.
Don't worry, the DemonRATs plan to ban ALL semiautos soon. They won't discriminate against just the ugly ones anymore. Google HR 1022 and read it. Re-bans everything that the 1994 law did and adds lots more to the list.
Let's not forget that our illustrious president PROMISED to sign a re-authorization of the last ban too, so he's already sent the signal he'd sign this one.
Oh yeah, this one doesn't 'sunset' either....
It might be conducive to an eventual rebellion.
