That post gives me almost enough info. I'm guessing with the Kimber question in the first post you do have at least a medium level of experience with fire arms. You're big and like .45acp... try Sig 220 the factory refurbished police trade ins are running in the $350 to $450 range when ordered from someone like CDNN. You will not find a more reliable handgun than the Sigs. As others, I also think a 12ga pump is in order and I keep a loaded rifle in the house, something that holds 20 to 40 rounds. AR, AK, FAL, H&K; they all can do the job.
