Do hollow-head rounds serve the same purpose?

Hollow point and safety slugs are not the same. While a HP round does lessen the risk as compared to a ball, the safety slug was specifically designed for not penetrating walls, or at least, not having much in the way of energy after penetration.

Still a deadly round though.

Hollow head rounds are really good at killing but glaser rounds will fragment almost like a small explosion upon impact, thus tremendous stopping power and almost no penetration power. Stray rounds won't enter the house next door.
