Giuliani in no rush to reveal secrets of his success
NewsDay ^ | Feb 2, 2007 | BY CRAIG GORDON AND TOM BRUNE

WASHINGTON -- By not formally declaring himself a candidate for president, Rudolph Giuliani has put off for at least a few more months having to pull back the curtain on the lucrative business empire he built since leaving City Hall.

Giuliani surprised some election experts by not filing a statement of candidacy at the same time he registered his exploratory committee in November, as Newsday disclosed this week -- even though nearly every other presidential hopeful did that, including Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).

But by holding off, Giuliani avoided the risk of having to file a personal financial disclosure form by mid-December -- and pushed the possible filing date to May 15 of this year at the earliest, election law experts said.

That's no small consideration for Giuliani, whose campaign advisers are worried that some of his far-flung business dealings in the past five years could be a campaign liability.

The financial disclosure form would require Giuliani to lay bare several intriguing, and possibly controversial, facts about Rudy the businessman that have never surfaced publicly -- including the rough size ohis personal fortune and his investments.

Candidates "don't want to have people start picking apart all the investments and all the stuff that shows up on that thing, so they'll hold off doing something that indicates that they've become a candidate" to put off filing it, said Scott Thomas, a former Federal Election Commission chairman.

Well don`t stop him enough that it helps Hellary. I`d rather have him in the WH than another Clinton holocaust.

Comparing the CLinton years to the Holocost may suprise some holocaust survivors, but I agree with the Rudy part of your post, vote and rail against him in the primary all you want, but if your going to stay home on election day you might as well just volunteer to help move their stuff back in the White House...Personally I care more about the country than our party at this point.

Rudy Giuliani devoted most of his adult life to Public Service. After concluding 8 years as Mayor of the City of New York, he went into the private practice of Law. The fact that he was successful and prospered should be in his favor.

His record of accomplishment in the Public sector is admirable, and unmatched by his competitors.

I would much rather trust my country to the man who convicted the Mafia and traitors like Marc Rich and Pincus Green , than Hillary and her HINO who pardoned them.

In the Office of US Attorney,, he was named Chief of the Narcotics Unit in 1973 and rose to serve as executive US Attorney. In 1975, he was named Associate Deputy Attorney General and chief of staff to the Deputy Attorney General. His first high-profile prosecution was of Congressman Bert Podell, who was convicted of corruption.

In 1981, Giuliani was named Associate Attorney General in the Reagan Administration, placing him in the third-highest position in the Department of Justice. As Associate Attorney General, Giuliani supervised all of the US Attorney Offices' Federal law enforcement agencies, the Department of Corrections, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the United States Marshals Service.

In 1983, Giuliani was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. It was in this position that he first gained national prominence by prosecuting numerous high-profile cases, resulting in the convictions of Wall Street figures Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken for insider trading. He also spearheaded the effort to jail drug dealers, combat organized crime, break the web of corruption in government, and prosecute white-collar criminals. He amassed a record of 4,152 convictions with only 25 reversals.

It was in 1983 that Giuliani indicted financiers Marc Rich and Pincus Green on charges of tax evasion and making illegal oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis, in one of the first cases in which the RICO Act was employed in a non-organized crime case . Rich and Green fled the United States to avoid prosecution; both were eventually pardoned by President Bill Clinton.

Rudy is a thousand times better than Hillary and he deserves more respect than what he's getting here.

Plus can you imagine Bill in the WH again only this time with less responsibility and more free time? Ho ho, forgeeet it! They should just burn down the WH, just raze it because that`s what is going to happen anyway if she wins.

Anybody who thinks that Rudy (or any of the other GOP candidates) is no better than Bubba and Hillary doesn't remember Bubba and Hillary all that well. And on FR, that's inexcusable.

Yes it can happen unless Repubs get a kick butt type candidate. Yes, Rudy is a good candidate, but I don`t think he can win against her unless he absolutely destroys her in the debates which I think he can`t do.

The Rudy of today is not the same Rudy of 10 years ago. Today he has basically been turned into mental mush by adopting the rich liberal lifestyle, having his arse kissed at every turn while pushing rationale, reason away. He`s basically a mutated Repub, a RINO but even worse. Plus his highest office has only been as Mayor. Hell, even crack smoking whore hiring idiots can be Mayor. (See MArion Barry)

Hellary is Senator plus she was co-President. She would completely trounce him. What we need (Repubs) is a good solid conservative who has long term experience and NO skeletons in his (or her) closet (unlike Rudy).

I`m thinking Mitt Romney but I again I don`t know if he has the name or the experience to defeat the she - beast. Again, he would have to absolutely wreck her in the debates. To me my ideal candidate would be one who can debate like Ann Coulter, someone who served in the military, can speak and uplift like Reagan, and has mucho experience. If a candidate like that doesn`t run, you can expect Hellary to be our next POTUS and the serial rapist as the first first man of the USA and the Clinton holocaust of the `90`s will begin all over only this time even worse. Think Jimmy Carter only this time his brother Billy as POTUS.

The Clinton years not a holocaust? Well think of it this way; How many people whose religion it was to just be good law abiding people have lost their lives and will lose their lives due to the policies of the Clinton administration? Remember, we are not fighting terror or in Iraq because of 911..We are in the mess we are in now directly because of Bill Clinton sitting on his arse while terror grew and grew, attacked and attacked, grew bolder and bolder, and sat back while Saddam told the UN to f- off over and over, and let country after country rip off our nuke secrets (if they were not all but sold to those countries).

How many in the future will lose their lives now being that psychos have those nuclear secrets? 8 years of Bill Clinton will prove to be more damaging to the world than 10,000 holocausts if we do not win this current war. And liberals have the GALL to put him and his co-ruler BACK? Say WHAT?

I`m sorry, but in my opinion, one Clinton holocaust is all this world can stand right now.
