Rudy, the "tough guy" has made statements that, to me, are chilling.

As Giuliani later philosophized, "Freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."
(New York Times, March 17, 1994).

The full quote;

"We only see the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don’t see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do."

In context it was referring to the "freedom" and "rights" such lovable rascals as the sqeegemen, panhandlers, and public urinators that the left was whining about at the time in the city under his programs to eliminate them.
