Wishful thinking.
One interesting thing is if someone is kicked off they will certainly tell us, either now or later, about the jury dilliberations. If it turns out that the one juror holding out was also the one kicked off that seems like pretty good grounds for an appeal.
This is speculation, of cousre. We don't know if there is one, or many, or no holdouts.
I think Fitz will retry the case. IT's a paycheck and a lot of notoriety for him. He gets to feed at the public trough.
and way later it was proven Symington was INNOCENT of all charges too
ever partisan firedoglake has this headline from last night:
Late Nite FDL: Is it Fitzmas Eve?
With his picture in a Santa Clause hat.
They're are rubbing their hands in glee for a conviction
and penetrattion of the constitutional authority of the president and WH, sick puppies.
...and the judge sentences Fitzgerald to share a cell with Mike Nifong... or sends them back to Law School for the next 3 years, whichever you prefer.
K-Lo has this comment, bless her heart:
"re: Libby [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
They better hurry, for cable-news-coverage sake there's an Anna Nicole hearing in the Bahamas scheduled today."
H to the izz O, V to the izz A
Not guilty y'all got to feel me!
I would LOVE to hear how the jury could arrive at "Beyond a reasonable doubt" based on the testimony given. EVERY SINGLE WITNESS who testified against Libby was shown to have problems remembering what they had written down or remembered from 3 years earlier.
Getting a tossed-off juror to talk would be great.
I just went DUmpster diving, there is a slow swelling of "panic" in the air.
I know a guy who served on jury duty once, on a malpractice case. During an adjournment, he went to the library, read up on the procedure, and proceeded to give "expert testimony" during deliberations. (He saw the plaintiff, a big fat stiff, get into a Lincoln Towncar driven by his wife, also a big fat slob. He told the judge, who told him as long as knowing what kind of car he rode around in wouldn't influence verdict, it made no difference.)
So, the jury finds for the defendant, no money is awarded. (Think English Rule.) After the trial one of the baliffs told him that the plaintiff was a "professional plaintiff", he made a living off of malpractice and similar complaints.
No. It was based on the certainty of the jury. Speed of verdict was a measure of certainty. The jury got the case 5 or 6 days ago. They've asked for different things that seem to indicate that someone is trying to convince someone.
I would like to know who needed convincing, and if that is the same person that will be booted.
pMSNBC is pushing the "James Cameron" find of the supposed tomb of Christ. They are saying 10(ish) tombs were found PROVING Jesus married and had a son. Man would I hate to say this tripe and then meet God.
"I think Fitz will retry the case. IT's a paycheck and a lot of notoriety for him. He gets to feed at the public trough."
And, he gets to take down Scooter Libby, the guy who gave him some heartburn in the Mark Rich debacle.
You'll have your answer if a juror is replaced today and a conviction comes in tomorrow.
Thanks for the ping. If "outside information" has reached all the jurors, that seems to me to be a logical basis for a mistrial. If Libby's attorneys are willing to argue for a mistrial. Replacing a few jurors would be a crapshoot for both sides.
My first reaction was "what makes them think that this entire "find" isn't a fake?" Anyone could have scrawled names on the containers.
Sounds like hung jury. Appropriate. What a farce.
