Not necessarily. It might just as well suggest that she was stoned out of her mind and in total denial that her son was a drug addict. Maybe she raged at Stern because he did not give Daniel some additional drug that in her addled mind might have counteracted other drugs in his system. Maybe she raged at Stern because she knew she had basically killed her son by driving him nuts, turning him onto drugs, etc etc and I don't even want to think what else.
I wonder what if any drug(s) HKStern regularly ingeseted. Trying to "manage" a family of addicts might have driven him to join them because he sure couln't get their lives in any semblance of order no matter how he tried. If indeed he tried.
I don't like him but find him less obnoxious than other players in this tawdry drama. If you saw him in the San Francisco gay bar when Anna and her illustrious doctor Kapur the Prescriber were nuzzling, he did put that cautionary hand on her shoulder and tell her not to go too far. I suspect that's all anyone could have done. She was clearly a full-out drug addict, sex addict, and possibly an alcoholic as well. Perhaps Stern did the best he could to keep her out of jail and off suicide watch for years. She was incredibly self-destructive and destroyed her son too with the horrible miserable sleasy tawdry lifestyle she dragged the poor kid through. I mean, she actually dragged him along to photo shoots when she was posing in next to nothing....practically guaranteed to make the poor kid question his own sexuality.
And by the way, what was she doing in the Gay Pride parade? She was a big favorite of gay guys.....they love that exaggerated faux fem stuff.
So, what sympathies I can drum up go to Stern who'd been trying to provide some sort of anchor for her for years. Reminds me of the wonderful old French film, Jules and Jim, story of a woman with a husband and a lover falling all over themselves to live up to her outrageous demands. When she died they were "overcome with relief." I suspect Stern feels that way too.
I heard they caught him with pictures of underage oatmeal on his computer.

Brimley? I cannot find an obit online. Wikipedia article fails to report his demise. He was born in 1934, so he'd be 72-73, not that old. I cannot check with our mutual friends, because THEY are dead.

That's the medical examiner, who has to run a lot of things through others and compare to witness statements, and so forth. If there is something that's a red flag, or even a *pink* one, he needs to alert someone in law enforcement.
As it stands now, both deaths are drug-related as to the cause, but unknown as to the manner - i.e., no crime has been committed. Not homicide, not suicide. Perhaps will be ruled accidental.
Depending on the tox findings, there may need to be further questioning of someone - docs, live-in, witnesses at hotel. There is also the complication of having a variety of police jurisdictions. Otherwise, Perper will probably just do another presser and announce them.
Seminole tribal police have already announced there was no foul play in Anna Nicole's death. At least the Bahamians are investigating Daniel's.

Sounds like a self resolving problem to me. Let's see you don't want to die from drug abuse don't become a junkie. If you become a junkie then enjoy yourself, but don't expect the taxpayers to foot the bill for your bad health.
Sometimes users swallow methadone before or after they "puff," when they seek to get high by slowly inhaling the chemicals from an aerosol can.
Oh the poor victims it's obvously the fault of methadone and aerosols, they're just forced to do it. Why just the other day I saw an aerosol can cruising the street looking for someone to make high. (I hate junkies)
