Remington Woodmaster
Here is what Mr. Zumbo said, with bold emphasis on the areas where cognates of "terror" appear:
I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers."
Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms."
How does it function different???
I'll give you a ditto.
Who cares? You think Zumbo would mistake the Remington Woodmaster for a military rifle? Have you ever seen a modern military rifle? No matter. You can look up some images on the internet. (search: M16 or AR15) Trust me, they don't look anything like the Remington Woodmaster.
You have to be the dumbest jerk I've ever run into on free republic, either that or you are some teenage punk. My friend I have one of those little metals that not only says I know modern military weapons, but I'm an expert with one. Don't bother to reply twinkle toes. You don't know one semi-auto from another and you were blinded by a walnut stock.
Perhaps not, but the fact that many people *do* use such rifles for hunting is reason enough to kick Zumbo in the teeth for using the word "ban". In addition to poor judgment, Jim also had seriously unfortunate timing, shaking this hornets' nest right as the news of an all-new, bigger, badder Assault Weapons Ban bill began to trickle out.
I recall seeing the website related to the confiscation of semi-auto firearms in Australia. "We Must Comply" or some such language in the logo - positively chilling. You'll forgive us, surely, if we'd rather not be similarly steamrolled with the assistance of words from someone who was supposed to be on *our* side.
I still hold that the column he wrote that got him in trouble was a response to someone he saw at a range or in the field with a black rifle who pissed him off in some way, combined with too much to drink.
No sane person could think hunters and gunners could stand by and allow that.
He said these sorts of rifles were only used by terrorists.
Could not have said it better myself - Thanks!
Additionally, all of the Zumbo information should be collected, formatted into an easy to read booklet and handed out to soft ass lilly livered politicians who claim to be on our side. Just to show them that RKBA folks are a powerful force and have true buying and voting power.
From now on, if I make a vocal mistake, instead of dumbo, I will think Zumbo!
So these sportsmen you know only use single shot or pump shotguns?
