We are right to question Western governments when their actions only make it easier for radicals to recruit new followers Maybe some wise FReeper can help me understand what she's trying to say here.

King Abudullah for Caliph!
Having a British educated, westernized, liberal (in the classical sense) Caliph would actually be a good thing--it would dethrone Wahhabism as the dominant Sunni sect, and create a rift between the salafists and the rest of the 'restore the Caliphate' types. While we're at it, let's contrive to have the Hashemite king replace the House of Saud as the Keeper of the Two Holy Mosques.

Unfortunately she's softening the sting of truth with some typical anti western rhetoric. Gotta figure, she and the old man are about as pro western as they get in the mideast and that puts a target on their necks.

Its our fault. We're horrified by the horrors Muzzie perpetrate. That makes us guilty of Islamaphobia.
Memo the Queen Rania: We're taking you very seriously.
To: Kaslin
That'll probably get her killed.

It has been noted on FR that the jihadists often take copy from the MSM for use in recruiting. It's not hard to believe since so many of the reported articles from the MSM are negative on America and positive on jihadism.

"across the Muslim world we are at war with ourselves, brother against brother"Yes - and the fact that it is out in the open is Bush's fault! Now let's see ... one way out, assuming they want it to end, is for one side to be the victor, another, much easier way, would be to introduce systems of governance that allow for these "brothers" to co-exist. IraqTheModel.com would seem to be a very perceptively named Iraqi blog.

Why such a pedestrian thinking? Have them converted to Alcoholism instead - being dead drunk they would not be in a position to cause too much trouble, and could then be left to their own devices.

Ironic, that the Saud family defeated the Hashemites for control of Saudi Arabia during the 20s-30s. The Hashemites were centered around Jidda and the Western Province, while the Sauds from the Riyadh area. The British rewarded the Hashemites with the Iraqi and Jordanian monarchies. The Baathists overthrew the Iraqi monarchy. Had the Hashemites won the battle vs. the Saud family, I wonder how it would have turned out?

"We are right to question Western governments when their actions only make it easier for radicals to recruit new followers. But our moral authority depends on our willingness to reject the voices of extremism and violence in our midst," Rania said.Well said, I wonder if she'll end up dead because she said it...
To: Sister_T
"It is hard to insist the West should embrace [them] as neighbours in the global village when across the Muslim world we are at war with [them]selves, brother against brother -- in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Afghanistan," she added.

Would guess, about the same. Although the Jordanian monarchy is among the most pro-Western in southwestern Asia, so to is the Saudi monarchy. And just many Saudis are vehemently anti-Western (i.e. Osama bin Laden and many of the September 11 hijackers), so to are many Jordanians. There is a big royalty/people disconnect in that region.

Nonsense. The king and queen of Jordan are among the few responsible leaders in that part of the world. They are in a very difficult position and are to be commended, not tarred with a generic anti-Muslim brush.
