Israel either stops it and deals with the repercussions, or does nothing and deals with the repercussions. That's where they - and us - are at.

Olmert and his team couldn't even handle Hezz and barely managed a draw/cease fire last year......He nor his Admin has the stones needed to take on Iran...
Regardless....If Iran is to be dealt with via the military option....Israel cannot accomplish this task without us (U.S.).

"There's no point shooting down a nuclear missile once it's over Israel - the devastation would be just the same," Only if it detonates. How likely is the warhead to survive intact?

I agree....they can't do this all by themselves.....and if they try, the results could be grim.
But even though their government is corrupt and dysfunctional, I will always support the people of Israel!!!

Iran will be dealt with by the usual approach which is to see that the UN will do nothing and we are left with only one choice - overwhelming United States force.

ABC radio news today had an article about five or so US generals who would quit if the Pres gives the order to invade Iran.

We have two strike groups in the Persian Gulf. I'm sure we could intercept anything coming our way or going Israel's way.

There are some who believe that radiation and fallout from a warhead as a dirty bomb would be more devastating than the detonation of a functional warhead. This doesn't work even for common sense, but it is good enough for islamic scientists.

Friends in Jerusalem report they have been on a 'quite alert' but are fully cognizant of the possible dangers which lie directly ahead, in terms of Iran and Syria.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess that if you looked back to pre-Pearl Harbor days you would find some military brass that were vehemently against US involvement in Europe. The fact that they could only find five to say this about Iran, out of what is likely a large number of people of like rank, is maybe a bigger story. Besides, there is a big difference between 'Invade' and taking out their nuclear program.

Then these generals need to go. Generals don't pick and choose which war to fight.
As for the statement in the article about Israel wanting the USA to do their "dirty work for them" - it's our work too - just as much as Israel's.
And since when is defending the nation "dirty work"?

I don't know how many personnel of general rank are in the US military, but five wouldn't be missed.
