Rudy To Attend CPAC

I reported a piece last month about how Rudy and McCain were skipping some conservative conferences.  One of the events I mentioned that they had not yet RSVP'd to is the Grandaddy Of Them All -- the Conservative Political Action Conference or CPAC.  

Turns out Rudy will attend CPAC.  He'll speak to the confab Friday.

Actually in one of the posts before you went to the anti-Rudy Spam thread and stated your allegiance to Duncan Hunter and they welcomed you - you said you would only vote for Rudy maybe in the General election if he won the primary. Never for the primary.

But this post was intended to make an announcement for the People interested in Rudy and discuss the issues which we welcome and it turns our every thread is become an open invitation for the anti-Rudy people to come on board and call us RINOS and Liberals. I would like you to take a look at the Duncan Hunter threads and tell me how many Rudy people go there and spam his threads with hateful Rudy comments? If they do I will gladly tell them to stop and leave the threads alone.

Rudy believes that murdering an unborn child is not as bad as murdering a child already living, and when he had a choice between supporting the New York GOP's candidate for governor (George Pataki), he stabbed his fellow Republicans in the back and chose to support and endorse MARIO CUOMO.

And all the spinning and excuse making in the world is not going to change that historical fact. You can cite all the wonderful things you claim Rudy has done, but when it comes down to his positions, he is more aligned with the Democrats than with the GOP:

What did it for me with Giuliani is his support of global warming and his refusal to at least modify his abortion and gun control stands. He could have just told Hannity that taxpayers shouldn't fund abortions and the ruling should be overturned and settled by the states. With gun control he should have clearly stated that the 2nd Amendment is for self-defense instead of hunting and what happened in NYC isn't going to happen nationally. Sadly, he didn't, so I'll look elsewhere in the primaries. I'll support Rudy in the general if he wins though.

I supported Rudy extensively with the logic that his conservative fiscal record and his national security hawkishness would make up for his social liberal deficiencies, and that he would come around on abortion and the 2nd Amendment as the campaign went on.

Americans Have a Highly Favorable Opinion of Mayor Giuliani
Entering the 2008 primary season, Rudy Giuliani is uniquely positioned among potential Republican candidates because of his extremely high favorability ratings. Recent public opinion polling shows Mayor Giuliani with 61% approval among adults across the country – according to the ABC News/Washington Post poll (Jan. 16-19, 2007). The well respected, bipartisan Battleground Poll (Jan 8-11, 2007) shows the Mayor with 65% favorability among likely voters. More importantly, Mayor Giuliani shows an 81% favorable rating among Republicans and only 10% with an unfavorable opinion.

According to the Battleground poll, Mayor Giuliani also has surprisingly high favorability ratings beyond the base:

• 70% of independents are favorable,
• 70% of 35-44 year olds,
• 74% of married women,
• 73% of households married with children,
• 52% of minority voters

The Mayor also enjoys strong approval among white evangelical Christians (76%) and self-described conservative Republicans (82%).

In an even more recent poll, Gallup (Jan. 25-28, 2007) finds Mayor Giuliani also leads among Republicans on 7 of 10 key issues including terrorism, the economy, healthcare and fighting crime. He also leads on 11 of 15 key candidate attributes – including “better understands the problems faced by ordinary Americans”, “would manage government more effectively” and what I believe to be the single most important factor – “is the stronger leader.”

In sum, while we fully expect these polls to tighten in the months and weeks to come, Republican voters genuinely know and like Rudy Giuliani.

The Mayor Performs Well in Opinion Polls
The Mayor’s exceptionally strong approval ratings also translate in to an advantage on Republican primary ballot tests. In 11 of 13 ballot tests in respected national public opinion polls [Fox News, Newsweek, Time Gallup, CNN, NBC/Wall Street Journal, ABC/Washington Post] since last November, Mayor Giuliani has a lead – in fact, his lead is on average, more than 5-points over the next closest candidate. And his ballot strength began to trend upward after the 2006 midterm elections.

Conclusion
Recent polling continues to suggest Mayor Giuliani is very well positioned within the party – particularly when compared to other potential Republican candidates – to win the nomination.

Mayor Giuliani’s favorable public opinion stems not only from his extraordinary leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and in the uncertainty that followed, but also from a remarkably strong record of accomplishments in fighting crime and turning around New York City’s economy in the 1990’s.

Americans are anxious for fresh Republican leadership on a range of issues. Our voters are drawn to the leadership strength of a candidate during an election. Therefore, as we move forward with exploring a run for President and as we continue to share the Mayor’s story of strong leadership and Reagan-like optimism and vision, we hope to see continued growth in our foundation of support.

That was AFTER EEE supported Rudy on FR for a few weeks. I guess he was unwilling to drink the Koolaid - that Rudy would not be a detriment to pro-life and pro-gun issues, among others.

You're no better than the old Soviet propagandists who removed the inconvenient from history book photographs. EEE's pro-Rudy posting history is splashed all over FR for all to see. And your "proof" to the contrary is from EEE after his epiphany.

Rudy is untrustworthy. Look, the guy lied to King or Hannity and said he wouldn't pay to have his daughter get an abortion, when in the past, he said exactly that. Why couldn't he have just admitted he was wrong and that abortion, gun control, and his illegal alien sactuary policy was wrong and reaffirmed the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment. He would have won over a lot of conservatives. If he's not going to denounce the other issues, then there's no proof that he'll be conservative on fiscal matters and national security too. Rudy is a liberal and conservatives should spread the word to fence-sitting Republican primary voters that he shouldn't be supported.
