SEATTLE - Modern hunters rarely become more famous than Jim Zumbo. A mustachioed, barrel-chested outdoors entrepreneur who lives in a log cabin near Yellowstone National Park, he has spent much of his life writing for prominent outdoors magazines, delivering lectures across the country and starring in cable TV shows about big-game hunting in the West.
Zumbo's fame, however, has turned to black-bordered infamy within America's gun culture -- and his multimedia success has come undone. It all happened in the past week, after he publicly criticized the use of military-style assault rifles by hunters, especially those gunning for prairie dogs.

Well the .222 Rem, which was developed as a varmit caliber became the .223 which was chosen as the military standard of the "assult rifle" AR15. what has always amazed me is, we shoot humans with woodchuck rounds.

To nitpick even further:
"Assault weapon" is a propaganda term, used by anti-gunners to demonize virtually any firearm with a detachable magazine.
RE: H.R. 1022: To reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes
"Assault rifle" is a selective-fire weapon, the term coming from the German "Sturmgewehr".
The terms "assault weapon" and "assault rifle" are not interchangeable.
:o)
Loose lips sink ships, and all.
Zumbo is an idiot because his position lent weight to his idiotic commentary. Zumbo gave an enemy a weapon to attack the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. IMNSHO, that borders on treason.
"What Zumbo said was stupid and wrong but it amazes me how vicious we on the right become when someone steps off the reservation for even one split second."
If he hadn't used the word terrorist it might be different. I for one am very offended when anyone compares me to a terrorist. Doesn't matter if they are doing it because I'm Christian or because I own an "assault" weapon.
Further proof that he can't hold a real job.
Yes, the left has found another "useful idiot" to use against our Second Amendment Rights.
This thread is seriously missing some pictures.
How's this: http://www.cuteonly.com/i/splash_lady1_smaller.jpg ?
Here you go. ;o)
OK, how's this?
For all intents and purposes the 2nd Amendment today is about hunting weapons. Not sure when it happened, but firearms of the type we could actually use to overthrow our government are no longer legal in a practical sense unless you're very rich.
Some gun porn for you, then... :-)
Agreed, which is why I used assault rifle and not assault weapon. I think a butter knife could would qualify as the latter if used in an assault.
ahhh now there's a thing of beauty.
By the way, that was quick work and quite appropiate too.
"Mr. Zumbo and msnbc seem to be under the delusion, as many of the unwashed masses are, that the 2nd Amendment is about hunting."
Please don't give anyone in politics or the MSM that benifit of the doubt anymore.
They know full well what the Second Amendment is about.
They just don't like it.
Maybe Zumbo really is just 1/2 bob off plumb. In that case perhaps he should take the next 6 months time to write a nice little book on what the Second Amendment really is about... then if he gets it right (not that hard), ok, he was just another dumb bunny who made a mistake..(I find it pretty hard to believe myself as even I try to re read and think about what I post.)
My feeling however is having betrayed the Second Amendment and his readers he has already decided to go over to the Dark Side in seach of 13 pieces of silver.
Redemption?
I suggest he;
1. Accept the heat and well deserved opprobrium.
2. Take the time to truly educate himself on the subject. 3. Demonstrate in a detailed writing what the Second Amendment is really about and tell us what he now believes.
Or forever be just another Judas, or Ephalates
So Mr. Zumbo it is "gut check time" for you...

The real man finally came out.
