I have likewise taken the pledge to:
a. Refrain from character assassination of any GOP candidate, and to
b. Enthusiastically support whoever the GOP nominates to take on 'das Beast' in November 2008.
How about you - err - non-Rudy supporters - will you join us in this oath?

Character 'assassination' should be verboten at all times. aka 11th commandment.
But we should judge candidates on character, competence and vision, and raise factual points on all 3 areas.
Here are my standards:

It is a phony argument to say the 'only' standard is 'who will beat a Democrat'. We dont know who can best beat the Democrat, but Rudy has never been tested in a serious campaign outside the mayor's race, so its hard to assume he's best equipped for it.
Of course, I will support whoever is the nominee. But I will refuse to have a coronoation of a non-conservative without a discussion of conservative ideas and values in the election. WE NEED THAT DISCUSSION TO ADVANCE OR AGENDA, OR NO MATTER WHO GETS ELECTED, THE AGENDA BECOMES A LIBERAL ONE.

Not this Republican voter for the past 37 years. Not for a Northeast gun grabbing liberal. Doesn't matter if said NE liberal is an R or a D. I'll vote 3rd party. Or write in.

Al, your tagline is inspiring:
Thou Shalt Speak No Ill of Another Republican - Ronald Wilson Reagan's 11th Commandment
Unfortunately, one has to be a REAL Republican before that 11th Commandment kicks in.
I will have to see Ronald Reagan descending from the clouds with a "Rudy '08" banner in his hand, before I will believe that he would want me to endorse, support and vote for Rudy Giuliani.
See MY tagline if you want to be enlightened, our beloved 40th President would never endorse an alleged Republican that saw no problem with sticking a needle into the base of the skull of an almost born infant, sucking it's brains out, and then discarding it like garbage.
Shame on you for even suggesting it.
