"What's a suicide door?

A car with doors that are hinged on the center post and open from the front and swing outwards. They were called suicide doors. It was suicide if you tried to open them while the car was moving. I forget what cars came with them. Back in the early-mid 50's sometime I think.

The 1963 Lincoln Continental had them. Most four door cars in the 1930s had them.

In a frontal crash, the center post flexed, and the rear doors would usually pop open, propelling you forward out of the car to serious injury or death. No seat belts back them.
