OK, Phyllis, I like Hunter - we know who you're not for; give some alternatives.

Tancredo is running?

Woo-hoo!!! I really do have a reason to vote in the Republican primaries, now.

I have seen this coming for six years. No decent candidate on the horizon after Bush, once it became apparent that Jeb Bush was not possible. I love Cheney, but his health isn't up to it.

I certainly agree that McCain is out. But if Giuliani and Romney are out, too, then why on earth haven't conservatives been organizing? Why wait until now?

I like Hunter. Most of the other candidates who have been talked up around here have simply exploded or haven't a chance. Hunter still looks good. But I don't know if he can win the nomination or the election.

If not, yet if he's still the best we have in the wings, maybe we can push him into the VP slot, so we'll have someone ready to go the next time around. While Bush was president, we failed to do that. Nobody was groomed. If we can't get Hunter into the front now, at least maybe we can get him ready for the next shot.

What about Brownback?

We all need to begin backing men like Tancredo now with our time, energy, and money to give them a really good chance. A lot of money is going to go towards McCain, Guiliani, and Romney and "we the People" need to make sure our guys get the support they need to make it all the way to the White House. I'm sick of phoney elections. This time we've got good men running. It's now or never.

Brownback's an excellent candidate too. We've got some good ones we can support this time around. We just have to get involved in supporting them. Pick the one we feel best represents us and has the greatest chance of winning.

Well, let's say Guiliani is nominated and runs against Hillary.

Social conservative sit out the election, or vote for minor-party candidates, but Guiliani wins anyway.

Now what say will social conservatives have in how the country is run? Who will listen to their complaints?

Part of normal and healthy political debate.
At the end of the day, the one that convinces more Republicans is going to get the nomination, as usual.

Lets say social conservatives vote for him and he wins.

Who will Guilliani ignore? The social conservatives.

If it comes down to those two, I will do what I have to do. My prayer and my desire and the thing I will work for is not to have that decision my only choice.

Social conservatives, get your butt out and work for the candidates!

Ah, but if they vote for a pro-abort liberal and he WINS, then, of course, he will listen to their . . . uh . . . . complaints. Oh, yeah, that's very logical.

BTW, the views of social conservatives sound like "complaints" only to leftists--Giuliani supporters, for example.

Oh please! He's a one trick pony that stands zero change of getting elected. He's only good for 'making happy', all those whose whole entire universe is illegal aliens.

That's the problem with Bush in a nutshell. He failed to advance conservatism and keep the GOP strong. All that compassionate conservative crap and the fact that Bush refused to fight the Dems on critical issues really weakened the party, IMO.

Thank you for posting those tremendous words of wisdom from the greatest President of my lifetime. Reagan has a huge legacy, because he followed his own advise. Those who want all or nothing wind up with SQUAT! No legacy, no change, no impact, no nothing!

The fact that both Hillary and Obama keep trying to appear more towards center says they know the Values Voters have real power. Didn't Hillary just buy off some black minister to support her through her entire campaign? Yep. Read about it here:

OH, bull. We ARE in the negotiating phase now as we evaluate and eliminate the weak candidates. Everyone gets a say don't they? Let Phyllis speak out.....it's what makes this country great - it's called the election process.
