What is it about some freepers that makes them think that bilge gets transormed into gold if you have been around long enough? If my 100 year old grandmother says something stupid, the fact that she is 100 years old doesn't suddenly make it wise. It is still stupid, it is just OLD and stupid.

Honest to God, I really cannot tell the difference sometimes. The ONLY difference is which side is being argued, but the tactics, ignorance, shrill adhomeniems, and inability to do anything but screech out the party line is NOT confined to DU by a long shot. Witness these threads where Ron Paul, who is as honorable man as ever walked the US Congress is called a traitor, a coward, scum, and is accused of turning his back on our military because of a vote that is consistent with his principles....., on which he has been consistent and articulate.
Again, reasonable men can and do differ and I don't expect everyone to agree with him. However, to engage in the type of irresponsible name calling that has gone on here make me want to do a little of my own....., so here it is: That kind of behavior is irresponsible, stupid, cranially vacant, neurally impotent, asinine, howling gibberish, imbecilic, bawling nonsense, behavior of those who spout tripe and think they are "defending conservatism," narrow (would have said 'narrow minded' but I gagged on the second word.. far too much credit to them), cranial poofters, cognitive ciphers, mewling neurotics who posit bilge as genuine weighty material to debate, neurasthetic amputees who can't tell the difference between knee jerk reactions and reasoned positions (crap, they have not "reasoned" anything in so long they don't even recognize the process), social retards whose idea of disagreement is to bloviate semi-intelligible verbal piddle with the confident air of one who has just unscrambled Zeno's paradox. Untouchable in their ignorance, and unstoppable in their arrogance and disdain for those who have strayed from the "truth," they recite half truths and platitudes and buncombe and are convinced they are true bulwarks against the tide of socialism and moral anarchy which seek to engulf the society. Brittle, inflexible, hateful, pompous and yet stupid, shallow, uninformed and secure that arguing for more and more statism in the name of "conservatism" somehow makes them a true cultural hero.
