But Clinton would have pardoned this killer, just as he did the Puerto Rican killers, if it had benefitted The Family Business.
The sad thing is, these People of Color think he is one of them, that He Cares.
He and Hillary are just Users.

My gut tells me that's exactly what he did and Bubba double crossed him. Paybacks are a b**ch, eh?
That anyone trusts the Clintons is a mystery to me. Geffen's not stupid - you don't build the entertainment empire he has by not making excellent deals and reading people correctly. How he could watch the Clinton machine hang both friend and foe out to dry for 8 years and think "Oh, but they'll keep their promises to ME" boggles the mind.
I hope that if the Hildebeest's campaign gains ground, the opposition simply trots out Billy Dale, who lost his entire savings on a phoney and politically based prosecution, to simply stand there as a constant reminder of the past work of this unholy alliance.
I likewise hope the opposition takes a leaf from Arnold's book when he ran for governor last year -- keep you head down and when the dust settles after the primary and you have your opponent - use the statements the primary opponents made against him. SchwarzenKennedy's campaign was very effective in using Steve Wesley's primary statements about Phil Angelides against him. Not that it made a difference really - we were pretty much getting a liberal no matter who we voted for.

Peltier's trial was the second regarding the shootings of the FBI agents. In the first trial, those charged were acquitted because the jury found the shootings to be in self-defense.
We've just seen what a runaway federal prosecutor can do to two BP agents. From what I have seen, there is a good chance the same was done to Peltier. He at least should get a new trial that wasn't rigged to get the intended results after the feds whiffed on the first trial.
A new trial? After how many years?
And, of course, most of the witnesses against him are now dead. His AIM buddies saw to that.
Once again, in a separate trial, other AIM members involved in the incident were acquitted by reasons of self-defense. Quite frankly, it was stupid for FBI agents to drive an unmarked car into the middle of a range war between two factions. The feds grossly mishandled the problems at Pine Ridge back then (surprise).
And we've seen that to this day the feds have no problem rigging evidence and railroading defendents in the BP agent case. And look at what Scooter Libby is going through - the judge wouldn't even allow the jurors to consider whether Plame was actually covert or not, which is absurd.
So I think there is a very good chance that Peltier's trial was a railroad as well, given what I know of it.
But as Robbie Robertson once noted, Peltier didn't get a pardon from Clinton because he wasn't "Marc Rich" enough.
From what I know of the case, the two who were acquitted for self defense were not the men accused of standing over the injured and pleading lawmen and putting a bullet into each one's head at point blank range. Peltier was the one convicted of that.
It's kind of hard to argue self defense when your victim is helpless, bleeding and begging for his life.
From what I have heard, the prosecuter said no one knew just what role Peltier played in the shooting.
People have said a lot of things about this case. Peltier has said at various times that he had nothing to do with it and at other times that his actions were justified.
But at some point, twelve people were convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crimes for which he stands convicted. So apparently they knew.
I think a lot of people figure the FBI Agents had it coming. You said yourself they were stupid to drive into the middle of a range war in unmarked cars. I can almost buy that argument up to the point that somebody stands over them as they beg and plead and dispatches them by placing a rifle to their heads and pulling the trigger. That was not mistaken identity. That was not caught in the crossfire. That was cold blooded murder.
That's why I am in favor of a new trial instead of a pardon - especially since the earlier trial ended in an acquittal and the feds changed a lot of stuff for the second trial to avoid that.

Unless exculpatory evidence was suppressed or false evidence used - just as we are seeing probably happened in the BP agent trial. That jury found them guilty as well, given the probable prosecutorial miscalculations.

I agree. The final execution was cold-blooded murder. The question is, did the government rig the trial to get the intended result?
