‘Relentless' .....(amendment after amendment . . . just like in the days of Vietnam)

"There will be resolution after resolution, amendment after amendment . . . just like in the days of Vietnam. The pressure will mount, the president will find he has no strategy, he will have to change his strategy, and the vast majority of our troops will be taken out of harm's way and come home."

***

That is the threat from Senator Schumer, who said Democrats would be "relentless," according to a report by Margaret Talev of McClatchy Newspapers that was brought to our attention Tuesday by James Taranto's Best of the Web Today on Opinionjournal.com. The fateful — or fatal —series of votes against the war in Vietnam came after the election of November 1974, when the Democrats sharply expanded their control of the House of Representatives and began moving against foreign and military aid to the free government in the South, a government to which we were bound under the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty. America had reached its peace agreement with the Vietnamese communists in 1973, but the regime in Hanoi violated provision after provision. The votes in the 93rd and 94th Congresses came in the face of an all-too-typical communist perfidy, while a nation of tens of millions fought desperately to stave off a communist conquest.

It is an astounding thing that, from a remove of but 32 years, one of the leading figures in the Senate can boast of his plan to repeat the betrayal of Vietnam. Those who were involved at the time, or those who have been serious students of the period, just shake their heads in amazement at the senator's arrogance. It is well to remember that when the 94th United States Congress took the step that doomed our ally, there were no American GIs fighting in Vietnam.

What happened in 1975 was not about saving American lives. It was about saving the agenda of the left.

I hate to say this but this strategy may work this time. The MSM has convinced a lot of people that everything about defending ourselves is BAD

The way the Democrats see it, the denouement in Vietnam was the time of their greatest triumph. (That and the resignation of President Nixon.) So why shouldn't Senator Schumer recall those times with nostalgia? The defeat of the US under a Republican President, and his humiliation, is what they dream for.

"...and the vast majority of our troops will be taken out of harm's way and come home."

And just like when we pulled out of Vietnam, thousands of innocent, peace-desiring citizens will be left to be killed in the crossfire of warring mullahs.

Consider Pol Pot, Cambodia, the killing fields and the rape of South Vietnam (and the list is longer..)
Millions of innocents lost their lives.

A relentless and ruthless battle against their President of the United States.

Meanwhile the Islamic cultists in Iraq and worldwide continue to target women and children in marketplaces, on trains, buses, in restaurants, with nail bombs and gas bombs.

Cowards running from cowards.

Yes, I have seen the MSM trying not to report this much, they can't bring themselves to defend these actions as "winning" as they have for 3 years running.

AND as they have done in Israel and worldwide for decades.

The reality of the rats in congress and pseudo conservatives, who hate GW, and what their BDS is doing to our warriors in Iraq is shown below:

US forces in Vietnam actually won every major engagement they were involved in. What lost the war was domestic politics. The Defeatocratic President who first escalated the war in Vietnam (LBJ) pretty much abdicated his Constitutional authority to be Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and allowed Congress to bully him around. This is what led to the insurrection that happened in the streets.

Today’s Dems who have been waiting for revenge for the past 30 years are now on this campaign to cover their stink by painting this as another Vietnam. This is a fallacy. And they want George W. Bush to abdicate his authority like LBJ mistakenly did.

GW will not allow another Nam loss due to the rats on his watch.

We need to support him and our warriors to prevent the tragedy the Rats want to fall on the Iraqi people.

There is a myth about the pre-war intelligence. That it was flawed. It wasn’t. Those weapons that were reported as being in Iraq were there up to 6 weeks before the invasion. Some are even suggesting that Russia had a part in moving them.

Russia Moved Iraqi WMD

Charles R. Smith
Thursday, March 3, 2005

Moscow Moved Weapons to Syria and Lebanon

According to a former top Bush administration official, Russian special forces teams moved weapons of mass destruction out of Iraq to Syria.

“I am absolutely sure that Russian Spetsnatz units moved WMD out of Iraq before the war,” stated John Shaw, the former deputy undersecretary for international technology security.

According to Shaw, Russian units hid Saddam’s arsenal inside Syria and in Lebanon’s Bekka valley.

“While in Iraq I uncovered detailed information that Spetsnatz units shredded records and moved all WMD and specified advanced munitions out of Iraq to Syria and Lebanon,” stated Shaw during an exclusive interview.

“I received information from several sources naming the exact Russian units, what they took and where they took both WMD materials and conventional explosives. Moscow made a 2001 agreement with Saddam Hussein to clear up all Russian involvement in WMD systems in Iraq,” stated Shaw.

Shaw’s assertions match the information provided by U.S. military forces that satellite surveillance showed extensive large-vehicle traffic crossing the Syrian border prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
