Suspect critical after SUV overturns fleeing deputies

....Limbaugh said he was nearly struck by the 1999 Ford Expedition as it accelerated toward him.....

A Lake Butler man remained in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville early this week after overturning his SUV attempting to flee from two county deputies on CR 127 north of Sanderson.

Deputy Wayne Limbaugh said he was nearly struck by the 1999 Ford Expedition as it accelerated toward him from a residence on Clayton Ave. about 11:00 pm on February 17. He jumped out of the way, and Deputy William Hilliard in a second patrol car sped off after it turned west on Five Churches Road, then south on 127.

The second deputy said driver Kelvin Givens, 35, lost control on a sharp curve near Sanderson Circle and the SUV flipped several times before coming to rest on the west shoulder. Mr. Givens was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. He was found unresponsive about 20 yards from the vehicle and stablized by a rescue crew before being flown by helicopter to Shands from the Sanderson landing zone.

The officers had driven up to the residence to serve a warrant on Julia Perkins, 38, wanted for failing to keep a court appearance. Ironically, they later learned Mr. Givens is wanted on a similar charge in Union County. Deputy Hilliard said he was behind the Ford SUV but slowed down moments before the crash because the suspect’s estimated 65 mph speed was too fast to negotiate the curve.

Mr. Givens is expected to be charged with felony fleeing and aggravated assault on a law officer for attempting to run down Deputy Limbaugh. Both are second-degree felonies.

I kinda like the chubby guy with curly hair on the men's side, and that adorable Soprano's looking chick from Jersey on the female side.

But I will qualify that, as it is early here in the wasted coast.

Expeditions are real gas hogs.....probably shaved a few degrees off the whole Global Warming thingy.....although I did see a Diesel Expedition today that I wouldn't mind having parked out front here....

"Mr. Givens was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected."

Smug and morbid satisfaction is my basic emotion here.

Rush ripped into the SUV attacks earlier this month. I think SUVs are such stupid vehicles that they don't know one Limbaugh from another. It's a good thing they are dumb otherwise they would all be escaping our garages at night and roaming around hitting people.

yea - Chubby with the Mop-Top hair has the confidence to get pretty far...he also has good "stage presence". The Bald Military dude has quite a voice.....I haven't picked anyone out on the guy side....it's easier for me to pick out the top women.

>>Mr. Givens was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.<<

I don't always wear a seatbelt. That said, I think some circumstances require it. Whenever I attempt to outrun cops in a top-heavy SUV I am aware things can get hairier than when commuting so I ALWAYS wear a seat belt under those conditions.
