At first I agreed that these bills were wrong but I'm now looking at it as similar to the laws against spitting chewing tobacco in restaurants and salons back in the early 20th century. I like a smoke free environment. It's not that hard to quit anymore with the new drugs. So quit for crying out loud and let go of this issue. There are more important fights out there.

Revenue from Minnesota's 75 cent cigarette "fee" is already down 3%. I hope their legislature isn't planning to balance the budget on cigarette fees if they pass this bill. Perhaps Minnesota legislators should read the story of "The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg"

Sure, ban it. Empower government and strip property rights. And when they start taxing food by the calorie (or coming after whatever vice becomes a target next), don't complain.

Survey from the state legislature on banning smoking in Minnesota. You can leave a comment, too! I did. :)

FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

I'm a nonsmoker but I do support people's rights to smoke...it has really gotten quite ridiculous. As long as there is a place for nonsmokers to enjoy themselves, I don't see a problem. Liberals are just pushing the envelope, even succeeding in outlawing fatty foods in some restaurants. What's next? Pop? Beer? Listening to music while driving? It you can legally buy cigarettes, you should be able to enjoy them in a number of places.

I am against the government sticking its fat butt into every aspect of our lives. Smoking, bicycle helmet law, no merry go rounds in a playground (dangerous for the children), etc are all issues that can be handled very easily by insurance companies.

For example, if you have an auto accident and everyone in the car is not wearing a seat belt, NO INSURANCE COVERAGE!

One of the reasons that there are so many lobbyists influencing legislation is because GOVERNMENT, at all levels, constantly stick their butts into our lives to generate revenues to keep themselves in office and well fed!
